HC 0.12 is posted.
I'm sure that the author "Hank" will be here to announce soon. But here is his post over at D9.
I for one am looking forward to his batch version. Code:
New version, bug fix release. Racer99 |
I feel like an idiot, because I didn't report that bug :x
I encoded "Red Planet" over 3 weeks ago (before the problem had been reported at D9), and I forgot to post that here :oops: It was a 704x480 encode, and yes, it showed a flashing pink line on the bottom right side of the screen. I thought I had screwed up somewhere :roll: -kwag |
@racer99
You are really "racing" fast :D I never saw this error because I do only PAL 720*576 resolutions, the error in the old version appears when (hor.res. * vert. res.)/1024 is not a whole number, was just a stupid memory-copy error but hard to tackle. Still working on the batch version, it will use the old style ini input but also some parameters can be passed. Also a different ini file can be used for every encode: HCbatch -ini HC1.ini HCbatch -ini HC2.ini etc. It doesn't run in a command line prompt any more but will have a small window with progress bar and encoding statistics just as the GUI version. |
And you are not even paid for that :bowdown: :bowdown:

Thanks for the update!
It's been quiet around here (everyone must be making KVCD/KDVD's), so I was surfing around and saw the post and thought I'd "give you a hand" (if you can call it that. Ditto to what Phil had to say! |
Hi guys,
It's been a little quiet here lately, so a new release: HC013 - GUI and batch version updated - faster encoding - bitrate control updated - encoding profiles updated: FAST - NORMAL - BEST - QLB matrix updated - added *NOSEQ_ENDCODE command to suppress output of the sequence endcode - some other minor bugs fixed This version should run much faster especially on Intels P4. Also a lot of changes in the birate control which should be better at low bitrates. link: http://hank315.dyndns.org/HC_013.zip |

(What a pity I don't have a single minute to test all those releases since days :() |
Floating point Q :cool:
Thanks Hank :) Time to run some tests :cool: -kwag |
@Hank315
When I choose the Notch matrix, it comes with a warning saying it's an invalid matrix...? -Anerboda |
@anerboda
You're right, will correct that, will create a new version and supply the link here. The different profiles just give an indication of the quality, in fact it's about the motion search method. The best profile also does a new quick search in the second pass which gives slightly better results at the cost of some speed. Advice: just use normal or best Bitrate control should be more accurate now, with the first version the focus was mainly on DVD backups at higher bitrates. This resulted in too few bits for P and B frames at lower bitrates, tried to get a better distribution now for this. Comments are welcome ofcourse, it surely will need some tweaking... |
That was a simple repair :D
