Use exactly the same parameters as above, but change to MPEG-2 encoding. There are no "templates" in DVD2SVCD, so you feed it KVCD parameters, which are the GOP and Q. Matrix (already included in DVD2SVCD)

DVD2SVCD

Hi Kwag,

The ini files you have posted are for lower resolution(352X240) format. Are you planning to make one for (704X480) MPEG2 for the creation of SVCD in DVD2SVCD.

The other question is that picture gets blocky at high action scenes, do you have any suggestion on it.

Thanks,

The only thing you have to do is load the new GOP into DVD2SVCD ( 1-12-2-1-24 ) and change the resolution to whatever you want. Then save your new .ini file with a given name. That's it. :D

Increase your MAX bit rate to 3,000Kbps if your standalone can handle it.

704X480 resolution template

Hi Kwag,

You have only ini files for 352X240 resolution to be used in DVD2SVCD.

DO you have any plans for creating one for 704X480 resolution .ini file that can be used in DVD2SVCD to create high resolution KSVCD's.

Thanks,

I don't have to :D. Just load the lbr ini file and change the resolution settings and MIN MAX bit rates to match the values in the KVCD templates, and save again with another .ini filename. Once you load the lbr ini file I supplied, all parameters are already set. That is the GOP, matrix, etc. So you only have to change the target resolution that you want and bit rates, and save your new ini file.

picture is blurry

I encoded movie using your ini file in DVD2SVCD. It comes out blurry as compared to DVD2SVCD standard template for SVCD. Any ideas on it.

If you are comparing the result of a 480x480 SVCD against 352x240 VCD resolution with no matter what encoder or template, it will always be blurry

704X480 Template

Thankyou for replying so quick. I guess that means if I use 704X480 resolution with your template it should be clearer than 480X480.

The only problem is I cannot find where to set the resolution to 704X480 in DVD2SVCD. You mentioned before that I should load you .ini file and set this resolution but I cannot find where can I do that in DVD2SVCD.

The only setting that DVD2SVCD has are standard resolution settings for VCD, SVCD, DVD.

I would appreciate if you could advise on it.

Thanks a lot.

You can use FitCD and set your resolution, etc., and copy the parameters to notepad or clipboard. Then on DVD2SVCD, you can set "Edit when dvd2avi is done" under the "Frameserver" tab. This way, when DVD2AVI finishes it's process, a popup windows shows up that let's you edit the .avs script and you can paste your custom FitCD generated script.

I made a KVCD and it works fine.

The only problem was the picture wasn't sharp enough to sit and watch a full movie, but I am comparing it to the 480 * 576 svcd's i have made that are crystal clear in sound and picture

Maybe I was expecting more than i should have?

Not Quite Sure

My kvcd was a bit more blurry than your sample

Maybe its cause i set the Aspect ratio to 4:3

not the 16:9 your sample is?

Or maybe I didnt set the exact same correct settings you recommended

8O

I know im a pain in the butt but

CAN YOU PLEASE tell me from start to finish what to do,
I fear my settings may have gone astray

kwag 01-05-2003 02:45 AM

Check down this thread where I posted the script and values I used for that sample: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic....2073&start=360

First, download these two files, and copy them to your "C:\Program files\DVD2SVCD" directory ( Or wherever you installed DVD2SVCD )
http://www.kvcd.net/kvcd_lbr.ini
http://www.kvcd.net/matrices.ini

Now when you run DVD2SVCD, go to the "Misc." tab. Press the "Load settings" button, and select "kvcd_lbr.ini"
You're all set :D .

I've left subtitles disabled, so you may want to select them and choose your subtitles language. Every other parameter used in KVCD templates is now loaded in DVD2SVCD as default. Even the KVCD Quantization Matrix is selected. You will have to set your TMPGEnc path. That's about it.
I've made some small changes to the KVCD_LBR template, which are reflected here. The MIN bit rate was raised to 128Kbps and the MAX was raised from 1,150Kbps to 2,300Kbps. If your DVD player doesn't support this high bit rate, please go to the bit rate tab and adjust your setting there. The audio will be encoded as 128Kbps Dual Channel. Please report any problems in this thread, so that I can fix them promptly. Because there is a problem with the chapter creation program, I've set "Don't make images". So after the program is done, you just have to burn the .mpg file with VCDEasy. If you want chapters, get ChapterXtractor and use it with VCDEasy to create the chapters.
More .ini files will be released for other templates ONLY after this one is fully tested and debugged.

Enjoy,
-kwag

I used your template today for the first time and it APPEARED to all go well BUT at the end I ended up with 1MPG file bbmpeg_muxed_file00 that was only 75Mb..?? Any ideas what I did wrong?? Here's my log file:

You have to be in "advandced user" level (in misc tab) and then you'll have the "target res" setting allowed in the frameserver tab.
