D2S (rc3) vs Manual process for LBR.......
 

Hi Kwag,

I bought Spider-Man and proceeded to backup using D2S (rc3).
The results, after some tweaking to HeadSweet and DVD2SVCD.ini,
were ecxellent. I have a few questions thought.

1) The bitrate tab is set for various times and cd sizes to calc.
....should I ignore this tab or since I want every encode to fit on
....one CD, should I adjust each setting even up to 3 hrs or more?

2) The filesize prediction in D2S (rc4) uses a factor. Could you
....share the best factor for LBR using SweetHead?

3) Some time ago there were posts on Doom9 on how to burn your
....CD as part of D2S. Is this something that could still be added and
....how would it be setup?

Nice work Kwag. :D I didn't believe an automated process could get this
far. I am still glad I understand the manual process, because it easier
to follow what's happening in D2S (rc4).

I have all my bit rates set to use 1 CD and 800MB on every box.
That way the calculations will be done to fit in a single CD-R, because of the file size prediction, and it's perfect for the LBR

I believe DVD2SVCD uses the size of the audio file, and then subtracts this from the size you selected on the bit rate tab. That's why it encodes the audio first, so that it knows in advanced what size of video to expect.
So just leave the factor set at .999 ( or 1.0 ). The best use for this factor is if you ever change the encoding from CQ_VBR to CQ and/or use another Q. Matrix, then you might have to adjust this factor if the final file size if too far off.

Just mount the .CUE or .BIN image with Daemon tools, and use something like Nero or CloneCD to duplicate to a blank CD-R.

But the person you must really thank is DVD2SVCD. He's the one who made all this possible. I only improvized on the file prediction formula based on an already used file prediction method. And made a little SweetHead utility for the rest of us :wink:

No so sure about that. But just select the "Edit as part of video encoding" under the Frameserver tab, and paste your FitCD parameters there when the pop-up edit .avs shows up :D

Testing D2S RC4
 

I encoded "The Silence of the Lamps", an "easy" to encode movie about 1h 56min with KVCD-LBR default settings.
The final picture quality is amazing!, Thanks Kwag!
The chapters are working but the final prediction size is still wrong, ended with 2 images. I was lucky cause the 2nd image was only the final chapter with the cast etc... :D
I left the "prediction factor" to 0.999

Villa21 it will never be possible to make 100% accurate predictions! That's why it's called _prediction_

Imo, it is wrong to say that the prediction is wrong when it is as close as it is.

It"s Done!, I set the "prediction factor" to 0.95, i started the video encoding from the "recovery" and i got just one image!
By the way, i used a 90mins CDR and set the CD size all to 890MB.

I did "Another 48 hours" with the factor set to .95, and got the same result. Perfect fit on one CD-R :D
