hi jorel,

use force film if the movie is >=95% FILM (preview with F5 and look at video type in the stat window). If less than 95% FILM but still mostly FILM, turn off Force Film and use decomb filter in your Avisynth script.

Run DVD2AVI and load your VOBs. Now press "F5". Let it run. If after ~30 seconds or so you see >95% FILM, then select "Force FILM". If <95% FILM, then don't select "Force FILM".

@jorel,

A quick way to solve your problem is to run DVD2SVCD. Use the
VOB's and check the box to edit avs script. Before you run
D2S select just one chapter instead of the whole movie. Edit
the script D2S creates to determine what technique D2S used. I use
this method when I can't determine whether to force film or
use decomb. :)

If the source is 29.97 interlaced, then you must encode at 29.97 and deinterlace if your target is (K)VCD. If your target is SVCD(or SKVCD), then you don't need to deinterlace, and just encode at 29.97 :wink:

Let me just say one thing... I know that you have a CCE DVD player, so you are making KSVCDs, but with a source that you have to encode at 29.97fps (like the one you talked about), I think you can encode at MPEG1 and it will work fine with your player in any resolution). Just give it a try, and tell me your results.
