Movie on a single CDR using K(S)VCD help needed
 

I posted something in DVD2SVCD forum but this one is more appropriate I think.

I want to burn my DVD movies on single 80min. CD-R's (My Cyberhome AD-M212 should support it). I've followed the guide and downloaded lots of progs and read through a lot of guides/faq's and forumposts, but was not succesful yet. The most important puzzle for me is that Red-M's the guide doesn't go into the subtitle part. What do I need to get the subtitels on my K(S)VCD ? (with which software and where do I "put it in" the project ?).

Further, I wanted to use the KSVCD 352x576 PAL because I thought that this would result in the best quality. The guide uses KVCD (not SVCD). Isn't it better to use KSVCD ?

I'm also puzzled by the fact that Movistacker doesn't list the correct ksvcd template/preset and if I should these http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic....visynth+script Avisynth scripts or follow the guide. Which Avisynth script is best ? Loading the scripts is also a bit of a puzzle....

Lot of newbie questions, sorry. Hope someone can help.

well thats because u don't need to load the template into moviestacker, moviestacker produces avs scripts going by what output res u want and what filters u want to use. just use the moviestacker bit in the guide and change the res to the appropriate res u want and ur set.

Thanks for your reply. OK I follow the moviestacker bit in the guide. The final res is set in TMPG anyway (that's how you should interpret isn't it ?).

Meanwhile I've read in other posts it's best to go for KVCD (and not KSVCD) if I want good quality on only one 80 min CD-R.

But what about the subtitles. I suppose in english speaking countries it's not used as much (or you should like French "art" movies :-)).

Should I use special AVISYNTH script or follow the guide to the letter ?

What I meant was set the res in moviestacker to fit the template u r goin to use in tmpgenc.

I'm havin the same probs, not too sure about subs. When I go to do subs they are normally positioned wrongly on screen and I have to pain stackinly adjust the position.

Thank you so much RED-M for this guid.I was a little bit stumped at first when I did the Avs in moviestacker and I kept getting an error in TMPGenc.Finally figured out that I was using DVD2Avi 1.77.3 and not 1.76.Again thanks.
I did a back up of LOTR-TTT,still endoing right,gonna take 20 hours but I fit it onto 3 discs rather than 5 or 6 SVCD's(Was getting the highest quality possible).Very impressive the KVCD template.

No probs, check the first page ;) when I get the latest finished (which could take a few weeks or even more) I'll try to keep at least checking on here once a day, thanks to everyone for helping each other on this guide I written and sorry I couldn't be here often.

Wow, this guide is still here, it looks so bad nowadays now where all ripping crap out of dvds to dvds, nice to see and thanks for keeping it on. I just edited this as I would like to thank Kwag and all you ppl who used this for the good old days and I will tell my grandkids about all this :) Hope everyone is ok and wish you all the best for the future!

Lol. Don't worry, an outdated guide is still a guide. Some will say than VCD are outdated anyway, but new people try them every day :lol:

VCD is never outdated.
If you have some small music clips of 3 min, in 352*288 res, for instance, does it worth it to burn DVD of 2 gigabytes ?
Wether it's old or new, each media has its utility. 8)
