KVCD: Time for encoding VS using filters?
I dont' know if in the forum this question was already done.
At the moment I use the "chain" Dvdx 2.1 + Video Server plugin 0.93 + Avisinth 1.05+ Tmpeg2.10 + KVCDx3 template without any filters and in one 700MB cd I can put up to 70/85 minutes with cq 70/75. What I would like to know is what is the influence over the time to encode and the reduction of the lenght of file if I use the filters that in this forum are indicated (es. LegalClip(); GripCrop();GripSize();FaeryDust();Convolution3D(); GripBorders() ecc....) (At the moment I can't use this filters because with the "chain" I use, the Avisinth 1.05 doesn't support alla the filters and I can't change the relase because avisynth 2.07 or 2.5 are not supported by Video server Plugin) What I would like to know is if there is a guide to calculate for example: Without any filters and only KVCD template with CQ=Z the time to encode a test of two minutes is = xxx with a lenght of file of == yyy If you use the filters for example (A+B+C) the time to encode rise of zz% and the lenght of file is reduced of KK%. Informations like these could help a lot of people to decide if it is better to use 2 CD to encode a movie with "normal" time of encodig (es. 5/9 hours depending on the system that is used) or to try to fit the same movie with the same CQ on one CD but with time to encode very hight (for example 12/25 hours) Thank's in advance (sorry for the lot of english mistakes) |
Just a little question: Why do you use this "chain"? You could do it without DVDx much faster!

For example I'm a little bit not convinced about a replay in another section of this forum, where another guy said that to encode BLADE II ( a movie of about 110 min) with KVCDx3 528*576 and a lot of filters on a PIII, take only 8 hours with "Motion search precision" set to HIGHEST Quality . (THIS is a time that can reach CCE on a P4 not Tmpeg on a PIII !!!?? 8O 8O 8O 8O ). Pheraps in his reply he loose a digit. (not 8 hours but 18 hours ..... :lol: :lol: ) Anyway as I want to reach the goal of 120 min on one CD, I'm here to hear from you all the advice on this subject. Of course I need to utilise my PC during the day for work so....... I need solutions that takes 8-9 hours on a P4 at 1,6 ghtz (for a movie of 110-120min) as I can use my PC to make this kind of works only by night. Solutions that need 15-20 hours doesn't fit to me. The TMPgenc encode time is related with the filters you choose. These filters will affect the encode time and the final file size. You have filters faster than others, but with final file size bigger than ones. But with no 'sloooooow' filter, I can make a ~120 min movie with 528x480 resolution fits in 1cd, allways using the 'Wizards Magic Potions' - MovieStacker, SwiftAvs, Tok, FilePredictor 8) , taking about 6/8 hours long (without the burning phase). This encode time can be make during bed time, but if I need to extend during the work time, no problem. The TMPgenc is a very friendly cpu share process. When I decript the original DVD with Smartripper (but I suppose the same will be with DVDdecripter) I write on my HD files of 5-7 GB space. When I crate a d2v project I need other 5-7 GB ??. If you can help me?? :cry: . Another 2 question about dvd2avi: In the video section there are: COLOR SPACE (RGB24 or YUV 4.2.2) and YUV->RGB (Pc scale or TV scale).What I had to select ? Use version 1.76 of dvd2avi. Secondly install avisynth 2.07 and use moviestacker to make a script for your movie. That should correct the aspect ratio problem.

OK I downloaded the DVD2AVI 1.76 version. It's faster than 1.773 vesion about of 50-60%.
Now I have the problem with TMPEG. I don't know How to say to TMPEG to set the correct aspect ratio. The immage cover all the screen. I tried to change a lot of configuration but the black band never appeared. I have to write a AVS script ?. If YES somone could post an example to view correctly a video in wide screen aspect ratio 16-9 to make a xSVCD 480*576 ? Thank you |

If you don't want to make an AVS script, then you have to set arrange method to center. This way TMPG will "fill" the widescreen with black borders in order to get the 4:3 aspect that mpeg needs. But without the AVS script you are loosing a LOT of features, compressibility and the most important FUN!! :mrgreen: It's not difficult to learn, and definitely worth the effort. There are tons of samples scripts floating around the forum. But you can try to use MovieStacker to help you making your script. You can load a preset according to the template you will use. Setting your target resolution, it will feed TMPG with an already formatted 4:3 with the correct aspect ratio, so you can leave TMPG arrange method to FullScreen. |
