Encoding: SVCDbuilder for SVCD creation
Hello, friends!
I want to represent my program for SVCD creation. It has nice interface, supports CinemaCraft and Canopus ProCoder encoders, is simple to use and gives good results, I always work on it's improvement. Just take a look: http://www.svcdbuilder.vze.com |
Hello Michael,
Welcome to KVCD.Net :) I'm downloading your program right now :!:  Edit: Any chance of using TMPGEnc and authoring as VCD in the future :?: -kwag |
Just ran the program :!: Looks 8O good 8)
The user interface is 8O 8O 8O :ole: :D -kwag |
Thanks, Kwag !
TMPGenc - maybe, but it's not too simple, so later. Now I want to eliminate all known and unknown problems, to improve program, how it's possible. Regards, |
Looks better than DVD2SVCD, Jorel should like this
|
I think jorel is already enjoying it!
|
Gonna have to try it soon!
|
I'm here with help of Jorel ! :D
|
Hi migor,
Problems here! HELP :!: This is all I get! Here's the log: Code:
INPUT: NTSC , Progressive , 23.976fps, AnamorphicThe paths are set correctly  Edit: OS here is WinXP Professional SP1 -kwag |
Hi, Kwag !
I know about this issue, but just forgot to correct. :? You probably have "Audio" checkbox unchecked. ("Encoding settings" -> "Process" ). You must have it checked , when "Video" is checked. Once more, I know about this, and I'll correct it. But only I want to know, is that "video only" option is needed at all ? BTW. The new update is online, and in the next update I'll correct this bug. I'm glad to get your reply, even about a bug - it will really help to improve the program and to think about it futures. I've made a lot of movies with it, but used only the "standard" configuration. :) Best regards, |
Hi migor,
Yes, I had the "Audio" deselected, because I only wanted to encode the video stream :) So then that's why it didn't work 8) Thanks!, -kwag |
OK !
It's interesting to know, why you need only video ? It was just experiment, or it can be really need in special cases ? |

I'm pretty sure many people will agree! -kwag |
I understood.
I didn't use HeadAC3he, only BeSweet to extract audio from vobs and downmix to DS-2. Mpeg encoding is done by video encoder, and I don't hear something bad in the produced sound (bitrates 160 - 192). It sounds great on my "Onkyo-595" and surround channels with DS-2 are different. But maybe I must compare it the results of HeadAC3he ? I use BeSweet in the 2-pass mode, and it takes about 45 min on my old "Athlon" 1GHz. I want to point out, that the way I use for audio (extract to wav and then encode) is needed for exact splitting of movie parts and fadings by avisynth - that's way I found, and I don't know to do it by another way. What's your opinion ? |
Quote:
Instead of extracting the audio to WAV, you could just encode directly to .MP2 file, then you can split audio and video simultaneously using BBMpeg (runbbmpeg) with "Start seconds/End seconds" or "Max size" options  This would accelerate the complete process :!: -kwag |
Oh, yeah !
This is exactly the way, that I left ! It is written on my webpage: One of the most significant differences between SVCD Builder and similar programs is that it doesn't create one big MPEG file and splits it into parts (CDs) but creates one file for each CD directly. This allows to optimize bitrate for each CD, create professional looking CDs with overlap and AV fades in the beginning and in the end of the CD. |
Ok, now I see your point :D

:D migor is my friend from doom9! :D i knew he and his program in april 25 and this was my first words to him: "congrats migor, seems very good! why don't use TMPGenc too?" then he answer me: "But maybe, I'll do it (if SVCDbuilder will be useful prog)" and i post again: "of course will be! TMPGenc with Kwag's templates is faster and clean. do you know it? about Kwag's templates: http://www.kvcd.net/forum i have some ideas and pm to you later,ok? see, more than 298 views in this thread(at the moment)! your prog will be useful of course. ps: "One-click setting of Fade in and Fade out for each disc" "Automatic splitting of the movie into 1-3 CD's" "Visual adjustment of split and cut points" .... few days after change pm with friend migor, me and a "strange boy" from "there" begin a fight and the "catty" five me "holidays" for 30 days. and i was thinking: oh no...and migor?!? i don't want to loose to see his program growing... what can i do....i can't post there...i'm in "holydays" then i go to the migor's homepage and send a mail with my idea as i wrote: "dear friend, came to kvcd forum, the forum is friendly and your program is great! i'm waiting for you. accept my invitation. this was the idea that i was talking to you! i'm waiting for you" i wrote some like this and mail to migor.... then.... :D :D :D he came :!: :!:  great friend migor....welcome here :!: i'm really happy.... :!: here is the very best and friendly forum that i know :!: hey, i'm "talking" too much. 8O ...is my gladness, euphoria and tons more. ... friend migor, i'm really happy :!: welcome :!: 8) |

when i see ovg64 talking about me and your program i don't read the full thread, i anwer ovg64 and all here. yeah :D thanks to accept my invitation migor. did you feel the "warm" from this people and forum?!?!?! believe me, you got lots of friends! yeah, really warm, great persons like you migor! feel free, welcome :D :D |
Kwag and migor:
for exact splitting parts and fadings, i have an  is working for me using dvd2svcd after some "changes" and is the special feature that i need from SVCD Builder to mix with MovieStacker and ToK! migor, you know,my english is horrible... i try to write a "preview" first and if you want my idea i post how i can do the exact spliting. i'm posting in the portuguese forum this idea ... is in the thread called: Guia para fadein/out nos capítulos...means.. guide to fadein/out in chapters! http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic....d16ae7238dae13 and the first steps was here: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic....d16ae7238dae13 i want to change the dvd2svcd in my guide to SVCD Builder :!: :!: :!: :) :) :) this was my idea when i see your prog in the first time migor  waiting for you friends....please answer me! this guide is my dream from months, believe me. i only need a little and special feature in SVCD Builder or a little changes .... :) thank you. |
I was going to try it but it would nto create the wav file for audio? Did Iset something wrong? What extra files do i need to download that aren;t in the bundle? thanks.
|
I am having problems too, even with version 2.1.3.4 :!:
Same thing!, it doesn't create the WAV and never runs either Procoder or CCE, even if I leave all options at default. That is, just open my .d2v, and click next, next, next and then hit "Start"!. Here's my log: Code:
INPUT: NTSC , Progressive , 23.976fps, Anamorphic |
samer kind of error.
does not transcode or create the wav file.... do you need to exract the wav file using dvd2avi? |

2. Open DVD2AVI and load VOBs. Set Audio -> Track Number to "None".Could we be missing some DLL's :?: -kwag |
Ok, guys !
It could be BeSweet problem. The BeSweet version 1.4 some time ago gave me an error, when trying extract something from vobs using *.lst file (sure, Vobinput.dll must present). So, I did upgrade to the newest beta version 1.5b11 (now already 1.5b17, see DSPguru website) and it works fine. When I added program bundle, I took only version 1.4, tested it and it worked. But maybe, my previous upgrade to 1.5b11 made changes, that I can't see? It will be fine, if you can test this wav BeSweet extraction (using *.lst file)independently, outside of the Builder. You can use BeSweetGUI to simplificate the process. It will be very helpful. Additionally, I want to check possibility of extraction and DS2 downmixing into AC3 file, it can be much faster and requires less disk space. There is now avisynth plugin "AC3source", but currently it works only in stereo mode. So, it's interesting to test it. I'll check this issue right now, and post result. Sorry, I was at work and couldn't reply earlier. |
I have solved the problem.
The cause is that "shibatch.dll" is missing in this BeSweet package. I will add this dll and update the site now ! |
Downloading it right now :)
-kwag |
OK, kwag, I'm here.
Be sure, that you have enough disk space! |

I'll report here when the process is done. I did check "subtitles". Does that mean that it will do permanent subs on the MPEG :?: Also, there's an option "HQ-VCD". What's that :?: Thanks, -kwag |
It is from VCDImager manual:
HQ Video CD 1.0 --------------- This is actually just a minor variation defined in IEC-62107 on the Super Video CD 1.0 format for _compatibility with current products in the market_. It differs from the Super Video CD 1.0 format in the following items: * The system profile tag field in `/SVCD/INFO.SVD' is set to `1' instead of `0'. * The system identification field value in `/SVCD/INFO.SVD' is set to `HQ-VCD' instead of `SUPERVCD'. * `/EXT/SCANDATA.DAT' is mandatory instead of being optional. * `/SVCD/SEARCH.DAT' is optional instead of being mandatory. What's about subtitles, the "exclusive" support was made by request of my friends. Subtitles are permanent , inserted into mpeg. I didn't work enough for subtitles support yet, so Builder DO NOT rip subtitles ! What do you see in the "Subtitles" window is currently only for reference. No actions. So, subtitles must be extracted in the format, compatible with DVD2SVCD, or just by DVD2SVCD. For this task DVD2SVCD dll is used - "Avisynth Subtitler.dll". And the limitation is that the directory, where subtitle pictures are and text file name are permanent - you can see it in the script. It's not so good, I know, but as is for now. I personally time-to-time use a voice translation, mixed with created wav file - it's advantage of wav. So, if "Subtitles" are checked, the process will probably fail - come back, uncheck and start again. The wav will not be recreated, encoding will be started! |
Well, it bombed :!:
It went all the way to ProCoder, and just sits there :!: No frames per second, no nothing. I did set the Global Default option on ProCoder. Currently using version 1.01.35.0 I also tried with CCE, and CCE crashed. I'm using Link2 version 0.951 -kwag |
kwag, all ok!
First of all, Link2 o.951 don't work with Procoder - only 0.942 !!! It's written on my page. All newest versions give empty prewiew window and 0 file size! Because of this I want to add VFAPIreader support. If you wish to try 0.942, I can send. CCE doesn't work - it's strange. What CCE version do you use? And, if you can, please right click on cctspt.exe, open "Properties" and say me, what is written under "Description" .Is it the same, like text on the CCE title bar + "-- noname" ? And what error message you get, when cce starting fails? Is your avs file playing in WindowsMediaPlayer? Did you uncheck subtitles? |
Currently using CCE Trial Version 2.67.00.09
Under properties/description: CCE SP Trial Version I have Link2 0.94 (I'm a registered user!), so I just installed it and I will try again. -kwag |
Hi Michael,
Apparently Link2 was the problem :!: It's currently encoding in CCE 8) Let you know later :) -kwag |
I'm glad, that it so-so works.
Now I see few points for improvement. Thank you very much, kwag, you really help! Please let me know about any possible problem, and your suggestions. For now, good bye, I must go to the bed  See you later! Best regards, |
Hello, Kwag and all !
I would like to know about program testt results, are there additional problems ? I've fixed one moment: now you cant check "subtitles", if they don't exist. I'm very close to adding VFAPI reader support. All will be added to the next compilation tomorrow or a day later. And also, I checked possibility of TMPGenc support, it seems to be not too complex using templates. Here I need some help. Or I must fix a lot of bugs too ? |
Hi Michael,
I tried a couple of times yesterday, but the results were not very good :( My CCE won't run anymore, because my trial expired. I really don't use CCE, because I only do MPEG-1 with TMPEG because it's the best quality achieved on low bitrates. So I switched to ProCoder, and I'm testing it now, but I get this far: Code:
INPUT: NTSC , Progressive , 23.976fps, 4:3Code:
***** WRAPPER 1 CREATION *****Never runs ProCoder, and of course, completes the process without encoding. Here's the complete log: Code:
INPUT: NTSC , Progressive , 23.976fps, 4:3 |
I tried yesterday with CCE 2.50 SP
After it finished with the audio conversion, it launched CCE and then crashed. Must have been while trying to load the ecl files........ Can't wait for it to be working perfect (or near as can be!) |
Hello guys, kwag and telemike !
I want to say, that it works fine for few my friends and never crashes! But I'm in the "visual" contact with them, so it is more easy to make proper setup of all programs and I can see, what if something is not right. So, KWAG: You wrote: " ***** WRAPPER 1 CREATION ***** Wait... And it stays there for a LOOOOOOng time" From the log file I can see, that it was finished in 6 minutes! It's too long. AVS WRAPPER CREATION File K:\temp\bourne1.avs found Wrapper creation started at 7:21:51 PM K:\temp\bourne1.avi Created at 7:27:06 PM After that VIDEO & AUDIO ENCODING File K:\temp2\bourne.wav found No source file found! Encoding failed, because a wrapper file K:\temp\bourne1.avi was not found ! But where is it? Link2 is launched with command line, in your case it is "Link2.exe -r K:\temp\bourne1.avs K:\temp\bourne1.avi". I can't check, if Link2 create it properly, but I check, if this avi exists on the hard disk before encoding. You get message, that the file doesn't exists. According to my tests, Link2 creates avi file even from wrong avs, it creates wrong avi, but creates it! So, I see the problem around of Link2. The avs script can't be wrong, it works. So, I would like to ask you to check these cases: 1. Is Avisynth installed properly? 2. Is mpeg2dec.dll suitable for this Avisynth version and placed in win/System32 folder or in the same folder as SVCDbuilder2.exe? 3. Can you play created avs script in your WinMediaPlayer (no errors)? 4. Is the Link2 installed properly? Try to create avi from avs that you have manually and play it in WMP. After that we can make conclusions, where is a bug, if it is. From my side, I've checked the program code, did many tests today and don't see any problem, except of few issues like video only encoding, subtitles... that I already have fixed by the way. To save time during the tests you can create 1disc project and select very small piece of the movie, about 1000 frames. I'm just disappointed, so I would like to break this circle!!! TELEMIKE: You wrote "...it launched CCE and then crashed.Must have been while trying to load the ecl files....." What means "crashed" ? Did you get any error message ? What happened more exactly ? If you have an AMD CPU in your machine, CCE2.50 will never work with audio, it has AMD related bug, that was fixed in newer versions. It's suitable for video only encoding. |
Quote:
I'm currently encoding a movie right now, like almost every day ;), via DVD2AVI->.d2v/MovieStacker->.avs/ToK->TMPEG So the complete filter chain is working properly. I can also play .avs with WMP, and also .avis created with link2. -kwag |
