Testing CQMatic Versions
I think there should be a thread where we all collect the results of Our testings.
I think this is the best way to post this: Code:
=============================================== So I 've to start again... |

Hi Kwag,
sorry for posting so late. Been very busy last days  . I've just predicted a movie with ToK and CQMatic 0.92 b2a. Movie details: PAL, 114 minutes, Average Bitrate 851 Code:
ToK-Prediction: Code:
CQMatic: CQ of 49,38 Thanks Kwag for developing this tool :!: |
@krassi a little bit less information about Your movie... 8O
... but it is ok! |
Code:
=============================================== |
Quote:
Final size with CQ=49,38: 624 MB. |
Quote:
Try version 1.0 and see if you get a higher CQ :!: Please tell me what you get. Just run prediction only. -kwag |

The funny thing is that ToK-Prediction was even worse. Thats first time ToK was so way off... I'll try another movie tonight where i already know a right CQ... Has the problem with short movies been solved? |
Quote:
And the problem with short movies should now be solved with Version 1.0 ;) -kwag |
ToK predicted a CQ of 45,507 (see above post).
But i've done only a short sampler with ToK. This morning i started a new prediction with ToK with a bigger sample size. Maybe then its more accurate. I'll try now with a shorter movie (i have one @work) and newest CQMatic. :D . |
Short movie results (23 minutes):
Wanted size: 188.61 MB Final size: 161 MB I think thats not bad for such a short movie :!: This evening i'll make a test with a longer movie. @Kwag: Can you explain me (shortly) how your prediction algorithm works :?: Or is it the one from the "File prediction experiment #1,000,000 :)" -Thread :?: Just curious :book: |
hi kwag me again :)
testing new cqmatic version : black knight (91 min) predicted a cq of 66,81 well lets see whats coming out :) |

Take a look at the "Wanted" size in moviestacker for both encodes, and compare that to the size created by CQMatic and ToK. (Not the wanted from ToK's log ) -kwag |
Hi Kwag,
filesize in Moviestacker was 188.61 MB for both. |

However, black prince reported an extremely accurate encode with a movie, so if this is the worse case scenario ( minus ~15MB to minus ~17MB ), then I won't touch prediction :!: That means that our encodes will be from ~exact size to a max of ~-17MB, and I would call that a very good prediction :) I'd rather have that range, than some +20MB over the limit encodes. I do have the prediction percent bracket in CQMatic set to -1% and +0.5% for a max range of 1.5% difference. This way, if my sample calculation is over the internal reference wanted sample, we ensure that the file size will not be that much larger than the wanted size. -kwag |
I think with that small sample size this is really good :!: I've configured ToK to take a bigger sample size...
I'm doing a full encode right now. |
Im my case it was 35 MB under it!!!!

Version 1.0 beta3:
Same movie as before (23 mins). Wanted filesize: 188.61 MB Encoded filesize: 170 MB We're getting closer :D . |
Quote:
That's VERY reasonable for the low side. Now I have to confirm that the "High" side is not too over the "Wanted" size. I'll encode K-Pax, whick was always over the size with ToK and the manual predictions with Sampler() or SelectRangeEvery() functions :) -kwag |

 how do you got the average this wanted file size with 23 minutes? :? i'm trying to got the average for wanted size 286mb with 32 minutes and don't know how i got the avarage to put in CQMatic. :? thanks in advance! |

I'm adjusting "Safety (unused blocks)" in Audio Stream& Authoring. Try this please with a high value (like 9999...). Just a workaround  . EDIT: Sorry, in Moviestacker for sure. |
:D
what a great hint Krassi, thank you my friend :!: 8) |
:ole:
with CQMatic 1.0b3 i did prediction with my sample: wanted size=290mb(audio and video) movie time in minutes= 31 Average Bitrate= 1070 final prediction give CQ63,05 now the best: yesterday i encode this sample using CQ63 :!: final file size  290mb (297.232kb) after mux audio and video with bbmpeg :!: seems GREAT :?: 8) |
Great jorel :D
Get BETA 4, which fixes more stuff. Prediction should be the same as BETA 3, so you should get the same CQ. www.kvcd.net/cqmatic-1.0b4.exe kwag |
doing another prediction right now with the new version!
thanks for quality ... CQMatic is growing! :D |
Quote:
with the new CQMatic 1.0b4... the result? CQ63,10 :!: seems wonderful now :?: :hopline: :ole: :D |
i did the prediction again....same source posted...etc,etc!
got the same CQ63,10 after 5 times with CQMatic 1.0b4 :!: 8) :D :D :umbrella: is wonderful :!: |
the last:
using the new CQMatic 1.0b5, the final prediction is again  CQ63,10 :!: just the same 5 times for 290mb wanted size,31 minutes average 1070 like posted before using the same source! i don't need to do more tests with small sizes, for me is perfect! 8) Kwag, my tests with small sizes are over! :D |
Thanks jorel :)
My tests too were correct with small movies. Now on to try long movies :!: My fingers are itching to flip the switch from "BETA" status to "Release" status  (But I'll wait for further reports from BETA 5 before I do that  ) -kwag |
Hey Kwag I'm a little late in the game here, but just finished catching up on all the threads and excitement. I'm giving beta 5 a whirl for the first time here and am going straight to the big movie.
I just followed the guides and set it to encode a 2 hour movie on 1 CD. My computer is super duper fast :D so it'll be done in about 2 hours. I;ll post my results then. Thanks for all the hard work. ToK was flaky on prediction lately with the newer scripts. |
Thanks audi2honda :)
Waiting for your results  ( good, or bad :!: ) ;) Edit: Did you already do prediction :?: If so, did the CQ found seems correct for the movie you are doing :?: -kwag |

The movie is Citizen Kane, 119 minutes with the x3 template at 528x480. 112kb audio and 1 80 minute CD it predicted 56.77... Sounds about right to me for prediction. Maybe a little low for good quality, but the movie is black and white and 62 years old, so I figured it might still look pretty good even with a low CQ on one disk. |
Well it finished and it was 100MB short :( :( :(
Here are the specs 119 minute Movie at 528x480 112 Audio on 1 80 min CD CQMatic predicted 56.77 Final Video Size 600MB plus 95MB Audio = 695MB Total Does CQ Matic produce a Log? Kwag, what do you suggest I try next??? |
Quote:
Or the regular MIN=300, MAX=2,500 :?: Based on your numbers, was the average you used 806Kbps :?: -kwag |
1.0 beta 5 results on the 23 mins clip:
Code:
CQ: 56.18 |
Hi Krassi,
If you're using the MA script, use MAX=2000. -kwag |

Ok Kwag here is my latest test.
CQMatic RC1 119 min movie 112 audio Avg bitrate 813 In TMPG I set min to 813*.57 and max 2000 Predicted CQ came out to 46.62 for 1 CD at 528x480. I cancelled the encode because last night i encoded the same movie with ToK using a sample of 72 and .5% prediction and got a CQ of 56.7. With 56.7 the movie multiplexed came to 784MB, so the 46.62 CQMatic predicted is way to low. Any ideas on what to try next? Maybe leave max bit rate at 2500? |
