Splitting an MPEG-2 file into two ?
 

Hi to All and a quick question!

I got a 1.63 GB 'KVCDx3-MPEG-2-NTSCFilm' Movie file. The file contains two audio tracks and one SVCD style subtitle stream(Gladiator DVD Rip). It has muxed with no SVCD scan offsets and without seq. header aligning by bbMPEG.

I wanna split the file into 2 so I can burn it on two 99min CD-R but I don't know what happens to the audio tracks and subtitles stream if the file is split!
Also the file is correctly muxed so remuxing is pointless and unnecessary!
Do the audio tracks and subtitles remain in sync with the video after cutting and are the final parts in SVCD format?
How do I do that? What's the best way or the best tool to do this?
The cutting must be precise because the second part is to be started at the begining of a special chpater point(Chapter 17 = 01:33:58:70).

Please guide me.

You can use MPEG-2 CUT, TMPGEnc or bbmpeg to splitt the Files.

Mux Again with BBMPEG, and set Max. Size to approx. 805 MB. You might actually get away with 2 80. min CDs that way! Audio and Subs will be perfectly in sync! :wink:

If you don't have the separate streams anymore, demux with TMPGEnc mpeg tools.

If you don't have the original .sub and .bmp files for the subs, extract them with vob2sub.

Mux again, but instead of max size use the time (Start Second/ End Second in bbMpeg, or use mpeg tools cut in TMPGENc), since you want to split at a chapter.

Then remux the subs (because remuxing/cutting with bbMepg or TMPGEnc will ignore the subs) using WinSubMux, for the second CD you set the time offset (negative).

I have the original m2v, mp2, and subtitle bitmaps.
The second CD must be started at 01:33:58:70 chapter point.
So I should mux two separate MPEG-2 file with bbMPEG and then set +01:33:58:70 for the first part and -01:33:58:70 time offset for the second part in WinSubMux to insert the subs. Is everything OK if I do so?
Is there anything that can cut the file including its subtitles?

It's possible with bbmpeg. There you can set the Split point.

That's it, in bbMpeg for the 1st CD
Start Second = 0
Stop Second = (60+33)*60+59 + error margin (two or three seconds is OK)

For the 2nd CD
Start Second = (60+33)*60+59 - error margin (two or three seconds is OK)
Stop Second = 9999999999 (put a very big number)

in WinSubMux, the 1st CD is normal, the 2nd CD you use -01:33:58:70 time offset. Check the preview to make sure it's OK.

I don't know any soft that can cut preserving (CVD/SVCD) subtitles.

It doesn't work for the second part. WinSubMux inserts 'the first part's subs' in 'the second part' as well.
The total number of subtitle bitmaps is 1610 and WinSubMux should insert from 'gl00862.bmp 01:21:23:28' to 'gl01610.bmp 02:27:55:25' in the movie file.

The first part is 1:21:23:00 and the second part contains the rest of the movie (from 1:21:23:00 to the end).

Please help. I'm messed up with this problem.
How do I have the correct subtitle bitmaps in the second half?
