Ok, I think my problem is, that I changed the priority level. Its now currently at When Active - High Priority | When not Active - Idle Time Only. The version I am using is TMPGEnc-2.56.39.143-Plus-EN. If anyone know what my priority levels should be . . .

Uhhhhhh, I gots another question; when I tried to convert a DivX .avi movie file, to a .m1v | .mpg, the first 5 seconds play, but then the picture just frozen. The audio is fine, but the picture is frozen. Is it the original file, or no?

First problem : priority has nothing to do with all reported before. So that is not the source of your problem.

Second : do you have this with all Divx or did you tried only one ?
That can be due to the codec you use on your pc to READ the mpeg1.

Note: sorry, I didn't read your problem before ! It has NOTHING to do with dvd2avi version. It' a codec matter !

You must install a YV12 codec (like Xvid) on your PC to be abble to use script with mpeg2dec3 into tmpgenc.

Ok, so priority didn't do anything...Gotcha. This was the first time it has done it with a DivX, but, almost ALL DivX/XviDs I use, it estimates the file size and time totally off. Even though when it's done, its not nearly what it says it is, but it still comes out WAYYYY too big.

Example: I coded a 56 min part of a film, and, 5 hours later, it came out to 650mb and 235 min. But when I started, the DivX was only 310mb. This also confused me.

Tired, it's true :-). Tomorrow morning, read again my advice in bold and you will see that I refer to Xvid codec to be installed to use MPEG2DEC3 ! In other words : I was actually talking about yourt D2V problem.

Let me put this black on white : an xvid codec is necessary to read a DVD source. :-D

Note : a 56 min source always gives a 56 min target or there is a big issue somewhere in your process !

Note2 : size of the target has nothing to do with size of the source. Never.

Oh, and bout the convert problem, then it must be terribly f00ked up. The size, I know, is usually never close, but I thought it was sorta . . . weird, how a 320mb file, KVCD'd (which, I was TOLD made em smaller, but kept mosta tha quality) more than doubled. I'll probably have to find a different tool, then try it again.

All is matter of settings. You can have a KVCD ten times bigger than the Divx if you want (actually, you don't you that but it's possible :-)).

The same way I have KVCDs half the size of the original Divx with the same quality.

Ok, well, the .d2v still is making me work, but that doens't matter; I figured out how to fix that weird time problem I was talking about in TMPGenc, like when it says the time is like wayyyy off.

Example:

235 mins 10 seconds
Est. File Size - 2500mb

All you need to do, is go to Enviromental Settings > VFPAI Plug-In > Direct Show Multimedia File Reader. Its probably currently at -1. I reset it to +2, and now she tells me the right time on a DivX or XviD movie. To do this, just Right Click > Higher Priority Level. Jus do that til its at +2.

P.S. - This problem only happened, when I tried to convert a DivX or XviD movie to a KVCD/(S)VCD, DVD-/+R, etc. It didn't happen to all of them just one here or there. :D

actually i have problem loading the .d2v in tmpgenc using dvd2avi 1.77.3 ...i also get an error sayin it is unsupported...

With the Version 1.76 you haven't any problems. :wink:

Hrmm, yeah, DVD2AVI still gives me some problems, and now I can't even load vobs or anything, cause it freezes everytime. I think I'll try 1.76.
