But with the new Speex CODEC, it's works just great for multiple user talks :cool: -kwag |
Went on the channel tonight had a good little chat with Karl, I cant believe how good the quality of the Speex codec just 9.3Kbit but better than a telephone quality.
Its great to finally chat and hear the voices of ppl whom I have had many great discussions with on this board. :) |
This is a tip on setting up TeamSpeak so that you can add KVCD to your favourites and automatically join the KVCD Channel.
1. In the connections Menu click Connect. 2. In the Local Address Book enter the details as in the picture below. (Remembering of course to replace Zyphon with you own name lol :P :lol: ) 3. Simply hit connect and you will automatically join the KVCD channel. Have fun. :) http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/error.gif |
Thanks for the tips Michael :!:
Nice talking to you too :D -kwag |
Local Server installed!
Ok, I'm running now a private KVCD audio server :D
Please give it a try to see if it works :!: Address on the first post of this thread. -kwag |
hi Karl, I cannot gain access to the new server getting a no reply from server error. :(

I'm screwing with the configuration. I'll post here as soon as it's up again. ( Noob here configuring server :lol: ) -kwag |
Should be up now. I just connected locally.
Firewall port is also forwarded from my server. So it should work now. Next I'll register a free dynamic DNS server, to point to a permanent name, no matter what IP is in use. -kwag |
Still getting no response from server error. Its as if it is not online.

I redirected TCP port instead of UDP :x Try it in 1 minute. -kwag |

@Kwag,
Connection is working, but I'm on a German Channel. :roll: I'm not sure I'm in the right place. Here's my settings: IP: 80.190.246.41:5656 channel: KVCD psw: 123456 Is this correct :roll: -BP |
Hi black prince,
Read the first post of this thread. I'm running a private server now. The address is voice.kdvd.net:8767 :) -kwag |

It's up, and the server was used heavily last night. Can you "ping" voice.kdvd.net :?: The current IP is now 66.50.247.80 -kwag |
I tried to ping that IP and got a timed out error that is really strange.
I dont understand. :( Might be a problem my end. |
try using traceroute to the ip address and this may show you where the problem is,
Colin. |
Thanks rhino I forgot all about TraceRoute. :)
|
Ok, some people are having problems connecting. Other's not.
So I changed the port number to 5656 The new server address/port is: voice.kdvd.net:5656 I also edited the first post of this thread. -kwag |
Thanks Karl, changing the port number to 5656 this has done the trick. :)

Now more people should be able to connect. I guess some ISPs do block some ports :roll: -kwag |
Had a good chat with Inc tonight its great to finally hear the voices to the posters here on this great forum. :)
|
@kwag,
Used following settings: IP: 66.50.229.235:5656 Channel: KVCD psw: 123456 Everything worked :wink: I used TraceRoute on "voice.kdvd.net" to get IP. -BP |

I missed your connection BP :lol: Hopefully we'll be able to talk some other time :) -kwag |
HI :D
I've been talking with Karl, from Portugal all way to Puerto Rico, using Speex Codec (built-in with Teamspeak) using as much as 200Bytes/s (when not talking) and (1.2KBytes/s) when talking. My link is 128Kbits/s cable connection capable of downloading as much as 16KBytes/s. So you see, I can be downloading a big file such as FreeBSD ISO that is 700MB, and still be able to chat with you guys. Plus it is very easy on PC resources. On my AMD Athlon XP 2400+ it is only using 2% of CPU. My talkings with Karl are just outstanding :D IT IS a lot better than some nasty International calls with plain ordinary telephone company. There is, though, a committed lag of about 1 second between us so that the tool can charge it's buffers :roll: Just hope some more guys start using his server. @Kwag, BTW Karl, I lost connection a few minutes ago using your latest voice.kdvd.net:5656 :( Also I lost you yesterday when we were talking. Some changes on the server, right? Cheers guys |

Actually yesterday it was my ADSL connection that dropped, and when it reconnected, it got another IP. I've automated the process (with ddclient), so now if my IP address changes for any reason, worse case is 5 minutes, the name "voice.kdvd.net" will be updated with the new IP. However, if your service provider DNS "catches" IP addresses, it might still resolve to the old IP for some minutes (or even hours!). I don't have control of that. The DNS servers I use (zoneedit), are updated almost immediately. What I'll do, when time permits, is that I'll always edit the first post of this thread with the current IP. So if anyone has problems connecting to the server by name, then they can try the IP posted under the address name. -kwag |
I've re-configured the server so that voice is automatically enabled, once anyone logs in to the channel. No more need to have an administrator present :)

Exactly Michael :D
Now the server runs unattended :cool: ( unless my machine crashes :lol: ) -kwag |

Voice Server Update.
@All,
I've done a couple of fixes (tricks ;)) to correct the DNS refresh time, and causing voice.kdvd.net to be off-line, whenever my IP changes. Now, I'm redirecting voice.kdvd.net -->> to a dynamic IP service (dyndns), so whenever my IP changes, I update a secondary site (voice.dynalias.net) which updates immediately. So now, voice.kdvd.net which is always a fixed name, points to a phantom name, which returns my IP immediately. This should solve the DNS refresh catching time, so the new IP is reflected almost instantaneously. So the IP for TeamSpeak is now permanent as: voice.kdvd.net:5656 Please visit the KVCD voice channel, and have a good time ;) (Information and instructions always updated on the first post of this thread) -kwag |
Hi Karl :)
Seems that TS2 Server is one of your PCs among those that had problems because of Ivan, right? Just drop us a note if/when the server comes back up again ;-) Cheers |
