This is the SITE which takes that place, not the forum.
You are like me, you never go on the site but directly here ? lol.

There was a lot of things hosted by the site beside the forum (Sansgrip's filter, Moviestacker, TOK, several movie samples, and off course all the KVCD templates). Need a big clean for sure but I'm surprised that 1.5 GB can be an issue at a time the smallest HDD is 500 GB.
SQL DB itself is a 45 MB zip file, so should not be over 150 MB in total.

However, I am in discussion with digitalFAQ.com which is used to rescue old sites in distress. I'll tell you ;).

Ahah, I guess I've only used the site a couple of times in the early days.
I ALWAYS put the forum address in the url box of my browser.
Wow, 1.3GB in a website :o .
I'm concerned about the disk space because my server is very low specs.
It's a Seagate Dockstar, ARM 1,2Ghz, 128MB RAM and an external 250GB USB harddrive.
This setup consumes 5w.
Got all my stuff backed up in there.
Wouldn't mind using it for the forum.
But if anyone else has a better setup than mine, we should take it.
Cheers

On a side question.. did you removed squirrelmail and added ensigniamail instead? the squirrelmail link now goes to ensignia. Could you change it back?

Thanks

Dialhot 04-23-2012 03:06 AM

I changed nothing. The offer from bluehost is constantly evolving, and I would not be surprised they removed it but I can't check now, the admin panel is blocked by the FW of my office company (anyway, surprised I've not been informed)

:ole: :ole:

The site and forum are now hosted on a digitalFAQ server. I deeply thank KP to have taken over the hosting and domain.

He told me he plan to upgrade the code of site and forum (which is very old and not realy safe). Further official announce will be done at that time.

Anyway, if you are reading this message, you reached the new server and can envoy its slightly faster answer time

will kvcd close yes or no

Dialhot 05-11-2012 07:54 AM

Read the site homepage ;)

hansolh960 05-11-2012 08:25 AM

that is really fantastic  but if the digitalFAQ team say they don't do it anymore what will be, will kvcd.net close then.

Dialhot 05-11-2012 09:26 AM

Why do you want them to not do as it is already done ?

The message the administrator of DigitalFAQ wrote seems clear on this point:
Quote:

As of May 8, 2012, KVCD.net has been saved from destruction and will continue to stay online indefinitely, as a project overseen by digitalFAQ.com,
I'm confident they won't change their mind in a near future ;)

I hope they respect my copyright on the matrix and text as posted eons ago ;-)

Dialhot 05-17-2012 05:20 PM

The idea is just to take over the site hosting and domain name, not to change anything in the content.

This simply implied that I'm not anymore homepage admin nor forum admin Even if I discovered this afterwards, that sounds fair. Things ran faster than expected, and with some unplanned issues (in php code of homepage for instance).

Let wait until the upgrades are done.

vmesquita close his site a couple of years ago.
He made DIKO Gold open source.

There are no plans to alter the matrices or text -- it's being archived as-is. That includes available downloads, past posts, past articles, etc. At this point in time, KVCD is more historical than anything else anyway. (Even archrival Divx and Xvid is largely abandoned now, with H.264 MP4 taking its place.) But there's a lot of scripting and theory discussions that make this site valuable to certain video communities.

The forum is going to be consolidated and streamlined, and the portal will be converted next. This has been a dying site for probably 5 years now, so there's a plan to rejuvenate it for 2012 and beyond, as well as respect its roots and maintain an archive of its original content. Most of this will become very obvious very soon. I've spent almost every day this week working on the forum. By the time I'm done, I'll have spent hundreds of hours on it.

It's going to be everything it was in the past ... plus more. 8)

This is great news. Well done.

Just a note to all, you may now find me at http://www.mmspr.net
It's a spanish only forum, but you can find me there.
It's about to open in the next hours ;)

Cheers all!,
