Is Hauppage WinTV-HVR 950 an ATI USB clone?
Hey folks. Thanks for all the help thus far. My original plan (actually still intend on geting one if I scale up) was to get an AIW AGP card + Windows XP but I was digging through my electronics and found a Hauppage WinTV-HVR 950 (the non Q version).
I have done some searching on the forum and understand that it may not work in Windows 10. I am willing to dual boot windows 7 on my current machine and give it a go with VirtualDub but before I do this I want to know if this thing gives adequate quality. I understand that it will do MPEG but not AVI. Otherwise I'll just get my AIW. Is there a particular revision number I should be looking for? I am not sure how to check. Thanks again |
Is it? No.
Can it be? Yes. Hauppauge has a really bad habit of reusing model numbers on cards that aren't at all the same internally. Extra letters and revision numbers don't tell the full story either. Several manufacturers are crappy this way. - Elgato didn't/doesn't use models. - Tevion didn't/doesn't use models. - Easycap didn't/doesn't use models. - Pinnacle reuses model numbers for long-lived devices. - Dazzle reuses model numbers for long-lived devices. You'll have to crack it open, see what chips are inside. The AIW is better. Just use it. |
Good evening LS,
Could/would you PM me about this? Thank you, WadeDV |
