Virtualdub HuffYUV vs. FFV1 (ffmpeg)?
Hi all:
I'm about to start capturing around 50 family VHS tapes and have everything working with Virtualdub + HuffYUV. I'm now considering using FFV1/ffmpeg instead to save space. I decided to start testing and can not for the life of me find where to download the plugins for Virtualdub. All of the links I have found are outdated. A few questions... 1. Is FFV1 better for archiving original lossless video vs HuffYUV? 2. Any tips on where I can download the plugin files for FFV1? 3. At some point I will be editing video in Final Cut. As both of these codecs are natively functional on the Mac, any other options I should be looking at? Thanks! |
You might try Virtualdub2. It has plugin support for FFV1 (...custom made (based on FFMPEG) with basic options). Also, you could try to create an external encoder within Virtualdub.
