Hi I started capturing my VHS tapes recently, all my setup is explained in this thread:
https://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vid...panasonic.html There is almost no issues on capturing commercial tapes but I am seeing this kind of wavy 'artefact' or noise like a continuous boomerang watermark alongside the tape and I don't know if this specific noise has a name or is a common problem, :depressed: can anybody help me? -- merged -- I upload a small clip of the Domino Day 2005 recorded on TV, you can see it... What is causing this issue? Macrovision? Do I need to use any filter on AviSynth? Thanks |
interferences during the recording of the tv program is my best guess. Filters like Neatvideo or Defreq should help get rid of them

Post a picture of what the output looks like without any in-line devices (so just VCR direct to capture card) and the TBC within the VCR turned on versus turned off. Seems the source. That just seems like a crazy amount of noise and if it's less or goes away when leaving out the ES10, that'll say whether it's that causing it or not

Just listening to it, the audio sounds very distorted.

This is only the SVHS (no ES10, no tape inserted) menu image vía s-video cable to capture card. I guess it must be distortion on the tape.
I played the tape in other 'crappy' VHS, tested other input (composite, SCART...) same interference in every setup... |
If it's got all kinds of distortion and rolling in the static menu, seems something is wrong with either the VCR or the capture card. Does it look like that when you hook it up to a regular TV monitor or CRT, or just when viewing through the capture card?
