Use 9600 graphics cards for capture?
 

Hello, dear Master Lord Smurf. Teacher to us all. Do I still have to use 9600 graphics cards for capture or is there a better alternative? Thank you.

I assume you mean ATI 9600. It's actually not just ATI 9600 (graphics only), but ATI AIW 9600 needed for video

AIW are outstanding cards, but like everything else, we're seeing more of them fail in recent years. Mostly because of idiots mishandling them, not because of the cards failing on their own. Lots of board damage is caused by not properly storing and shipping them.

AIW also requires XP.

There are some good alternatives, and I do my best to make those available in the marketplace forum.

It's hard to exceed the quality of an AIW, but I understand that not everybody wants to assemble XP systems from 2010s hardware. So these specific ATI/Pinnacle USB are all runners-up for image/audio quality.

Yes, your statement is absolutely correct and I wrote 9600 in short. The problem I have now is that it recognizes two 9600s in device manager, maybe because the graphics card has dual outputs. I still have a smoother image in my ATI capture software, but in VirtualDub I have interlaced lines. Is there a problem with the driver version? (File version: 6.14.10.6404). thanks and best regards.
