ATI MMC and VirtualDub captures, but audio lags behind video

None of the ATI MMC stuff worked, but I could capture in VDub, so I set it to work. After I captured a short tape I noticed that the audio lags behind the video by maybe 15 frames or so. It's not clock skew, it's not frame dropping, it doesn't change over time, it's constant. The audio is consistently a half second or so behind the video.

Spent the entire today reinstalling from bare iron. I typed up my notes on the forum, I think it might help somebody sometime. Anyway, after spending all day, the MMC seems to work at least partially. AND I can capture with VDub, BUT guess what, the audio still lags the video by the same half second or so.

So, I'm wondering if you brought the AIW audio out cable to the line in on the Soyo motherboard, or did you have a separate sound card, or what.

And hints and help are appreciated! :)

1. Refer to the dropped frames guide: http://www.digitalfaq.com/guides/vid...ped-frames.htm
2. Refer to the ATI wiring instructions: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vide...ti-wonder.html

The preferred method is via internal wiring, not the external method.
The system works well that way.

Unless I'm crossing my wires again (brain wires, not audio wires), you had an Intel motherboard with the ATI card, not a Soyo. Unless you have your own Soyo that you've built the system around.

Try capturing with the normal Huffyuv lossless codec -- not the CCESP hacked version, not the MT versions, not the 64 versions. Not fully uncompressed YUY2. See how that may change your capturing, in terms of audio sync. That specific ATI 128 pro card had been on a system that captured lossless Huffyuv AVI and MPEG-2, and worked quite well at it.
