JVC HRS 5950EU for quality VHS conversions?
Hi all
I am still starting out , and learning about how to make good vhs tape conversions. Im busy trying to assemble a reasonable collection of gear to do the job , however finding an okay vcr is proving difficult in my part of the world, cape town SA. I managed to come across a JVC HRS 5950 EU from someone, and was just wondering if any one had experience with that deck and if it is any good for vhs conversions? thanks |
Not really. The 5900 was one of the last VCRs before JVC stopped making S-VHS decks.
The latter-era decks are "middle" quality (early era decks are largely undesirable, with middle-era decks being best regarded). So it has that working against it. Then the 5000-series decks lack the various features and filters that make S-VHS VCRs worthwhile. So it has two things working against it. I'd pass on it. It's worth maybe $50 (USD) in like-new condition. |
