Best VCR for output quality?

A quick question for u [x2x]

If u could choose from the following vcr's which one would you pick output quality wise:

HR-S9600
HR-S9700
HR-S9800
HR-S9850
HR-S9900

EU Models [x2x]

I can't seem to find an answer anywhere [:-(]

those are all going to be about the same.
the differences between most TBC equipped JVC's is really just splitting hairs.

I agree that output quality / filtering is roughly identical between Digipure JVCs, but I've found that the Dynamic Drum feature provides significantly better performance. Out of the models listed, 9600 and 9700 (basically the same VCR) do have DD, but the 9850 does not. I don't recall any 9800 or 9900 PAL models, I believe those are NTSC only.

A Digipure JVC with DD is an outstanding deck, just make sure to get one in great condition!

i have not seen any significant difference on SP mode tapes
and EP tapes are usually better off in a AG-1980

add to that the problems ive had with the DD's - ie broken plastic gears and no parts available to fix them

the 2 best decks ever made the W5U & W7U dont have a DD

definately follow Jarvis's advice - only buy a DD deck that is mint - and preferably low hours.

Based on the research I've done, Dynamic Drum really isn't used for playback. It was used for crystal clear stills and jog/shuttle playback which JVC marketed as "Time Scan" and "Pro Slow". It was likely eliminated on later models for cost and reliability reasons.

If you really want to nitpick it, the Dynamic Drum helps with EP and LP playback versus non-Dynamic Drum. But at that point, I think were kind of nit picking, plus volksjager has a point, where Panasonic is probably a better unit to use for EP tapes anyway and the JVC is better at SP. So its kind of moot.
