If you open one of your VOBs directly with WinDVD or PowerDVD, do you see those lines in your playback :?:

should I put the readavs.dll in tmpgenc??
These little lines are also in the movie, ripped another movie some secs ago and it had the same lines, I guess u cant see it when u watch it on a TV!!

A quicker test: If you run DVD2AVI and open the VOBs, do you see the same thing after scrolling through the video :?:

It looks not that good when I open the .vobs with powerdvd but I guess that's because of my grafic chip, it has only 16mb!!
Now I know why i cant get a better quality!!!

So the problem is your video card 8)
Make a small encode, and burn it to CD-RW or CD-R. It should look ok on your TV.

yeah,
what I described up there, that's what I saw in DVD2AVI!!

Hey,
the quality on TV is awesome, I finally made it!!
That's my script:

LegalClip()
GripCrop(528, 480, overscan=1, source_anamorphic=false)
GripSize(resizer="BicubicResize")
UnFilter(50, 50)
TemporalSmoother(1, 2)
MergeChroma(blur(1.58))
MergeLuma(blur(0.2))
GripBorders()
LegalClip()

2 mor questions:
- should I use space dust??
- what happened when I use a pal script??

I put in tok NTSC to PAL, but it still has the same resolution --> u can see the difference when u watch that on tv!!!

Probably not. Only if you consider that the source is "dirty".

You shouldn't need to do that. Standalone DVD players will usually play both NTSC and PAL VCDs. So just encode your KVCD exactly as the original. NTSC to NTSC or PAL to PAL.
Just remember that this only applies to (SK)(S)VCDs :!: and not to DVDs

Hi,
I encoded it to NTSC but grafic wasn't as good!!
The CQ was 45.60, iss that good enough??
How could I make it higher in TOK??
Another question to tok, should I leave precision on 1.0% or should I set it on 0.5%??
I'm encoding it to PAL right now, and hopefully it will look better, but still th e CQ is 45!! I think that's very small!!
Can u encode the muvie witout that dumb sampler?? I just take time away!!

Sure, just push the No prediction- fixed CQ button and set the cq to 100. You might have to put your movie on two or three cds though :roll:

EDIT: the reason for sampler.dll is to encode a small part of the video to predict what the final filesize will be-- since CQ mode can't be estimated like CBR mode without a 'preliminary' encode

plautzer 05-28-2003 04:57 PM

I just use a smaller resolution which enlarges the CQ!!
But is the quality better with higher CQ but a smaller resolution??

No! There is a compromise, and that's exactly the reason we came up with KVCDx3 528x480(576).
It's the perfect balance between resolution and bitrate.
