cool thanks man, say i was wondering is KVCDx2 and KVCDx3 are better than regular KVCD?

im guessing here because i just saw KVCDx2 and KVCDx3

kwag 09-07-2003 08:33 PM

Hi danny,

KVCDx2 was a template name. KVCDx3 is a label we named for the official resolution of the encoded MPEG files with our parameters. Read here: http://www.kvcd.net/portal/articles.php?lng=en&pg=20
KVCD stands for our trade name, which stands for .............. you'll know one day when we finish some legal paperwork  , and it's not kwag's Video CD ;)

I am following the guide to the letter and only seem to be having problems when it comes to the mp2 audio file.

I have stream type as MPEG-1 Audio Layer II

My Sampling Freq is 44100hz

Channel mode is Dual Channel

Bitrate is 112

Error protection
original flag
copyright flag
private flag

they are all unticked

de-emphasis flag is NONE and USE Audio Edit is unticked

I do everything you say but still i can not hear it when playing it back on my system.

Im unsure why.
Any alternatives?

Thanks

Hey, I just attempted to make my first kvcd the othery day using this guide. I should maybe put this in the success story section but I wanna say thanks to Cougar for making a guide that stupid people like me can understand. The video on the kvcd isn't far off from the source video, and the audio is just fine, everything worked first try.

So, thanks again.

p.s Cougar, your avatar is awesome

I had the same problem myself but I know how to fix it. In VirtualDub save the audio to a .WAV file then instead of using tmpgenc to copy the audio from the AVI to an mp2, don't open the AVI, use the WAV file instead. I'm not a very good writer so that's the best I can explain it. Looka round for some more guides or just do what I do: Experiment!

No, with KVCD you can fit up to 180 minutes on a disc! That's the great thing about it

kwag 09-28-2003 04:32 AM

Or 360 minutes with ULBR, but that's for small TV sets, as quality will be sub VCD. Still watcheable, and on small TVs ( 13" or so) it will look just like a VCD :)
See the information here: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2372
Edit: Sorry, the sample is no longer available.

That's weird. With that speed it shouldn't take more than 8-10 hours. You might be encoding the movie with too high a quality setting. Make sure no other programs are running in the background using up your CPU usage and if that's still not enough speed maybe you should buy a bigger fan and overclock your processor to about 2.4GHz or even 3.0GHz.

Write Errors???????????????????

Ok decided to give this a try. everything went well till part 3 in TMPGEnc when I hit a "Write error occurred at address 77F83905 of module 'NTDLL.DLL' with 00000000. What can I do about this? Thanks all, so far looks great, just hope I can finish :?

ResQdawg 10-03-2003 08:41 AM

Tried it again and got another error "Write error occurred at address 00401c9f of module TMPGEnc.exe with 02824704". This is getting very frustrating, Nero is looking better and better. Any suggestions again
