mmmm Really interesting. And makes all the sense. :)

I have to capture also my Video 8 Tapes these days. But i have my original Camera Sony CCD-FX270E fully working.

I have created a new thread asking about the best TBC option from my different devices.

looks like I'm in the boat as you ...I'll follow that thread :)

I'd prefer to work on the Mac as that is more powerful (12-core) than my Windows PC (4-core).
I too have a ES10 for TBC'ish passthrough but have not used it yet as the TRV-320E has TBC builtin and the tapes are quite stable.

I could capture on the PC in HuffYUV and use the scripts to "clean up" the captures.
But even if I do capture on the Windows PC in HuffYUV, I still would need to transcode into a format that be edited on the Mac. I guess there's a way to do that (HuffYUV -> ProRes 422 HQ) ?

May be the compromise is to capture on the Mac straight to ProRes 422 HQ and try to use VapourSynth (via Hybrid) to clean up the capture before moving on to editing.
