Sudden VirtualDub capture failure?
1 Attachment(s)
After almost a year's break, I've resumed capturing more Hi8 videos using the workflow I bought from lordsmurf. I included forum links below to provide background on my workflow. Things have been working fine over the past few days, but this morning the capture is failing in VirtualDub. I believe I am following the same process that worked previously, and I demonstrate the failure in the attached video.
The output from my video camera never appears in the VirtualDub capture window, and when I select "Start Capture", I get the error "Unable to start video capture". The attached video shows my hardware setup and my use of CrossBarThing and VirtualDub. Can anyone help? My most recent thread regarding this workflow. My original thread. -- merged -- This problem has gone away. chkdsk had been warning me there were errors, but it was taking so long I bailed out of it. I had a sneaking suspicion that if I just let it run, it would help with my problem. So I let it run, and once it completed and restarted the computer, capture started working again. I would assume that if there were corrupted bytes on the disk that are related to the SW I was using to capture, that SW would not run. But I suppose anything is possible when you consider interactions with the OS and all. |
I would just remove the drive, use another. Drives are so cheap now, it's not worth the wasted time.
