What does "Pannings" mean???

.
. panning is when the camera man is shooting footage left or right.. like in a circle, but could also be parrellel, as when you are jogging w/ a friend.. side by side, you are said to be in a "parrellel" position. Now, take a cam and hold it steady, while you jog, and point cam toward houses that you pass.. . . that's basically PANNING. -vhelp |

Guess i'm a slow typer

Ok, now i got it.
I didn't notice any ghosting effect. But I try to find out a dark area scene with panning, make a sample and upload it, so you can make your own opinion. Or just create your own sample with DCTFilter and make a decision about it. |
.
. I'm glad to know that "other"'s out there are realizing that Temporals and Smoothers are messing up final encodes, hence the various artifacts you all are describing. I'm waiting for that BEST script (filter) that works wonders for encoding. But, until then, I'll continue working on mine, and trying others' here. As for "dark scenes" so far, i haven't noticed any artifacts when using Kwag latest Notch matrix - I like it. Anyways.. I'm just following along. I hope I have some things to contribute here. 8) -vhelp |
WOW, Kwag!!
Kudos on that latest script! Simple, and effective! I like!! Boy, I'm glad this thread got started :D |

My filesize WITHOUT DctFilter was 8.51MB. Filesize WITH DctFilter was 8.45MB. -d&c Of course, I suppose one good use for DctFilter (if it is found that it does not have much impact on encoding-time and also doesn't adversely effect quality), could be to add it to your script as a "safety" mechanism of sorts after finding your target CQ, to help ensure that you won't go over your target m1v filesize. But that's a couple "ifs" there. And I've rarely gone over target filesize anyways when sticking to the .98 factor (if ever!)...if anything, I'm usually well under target size and then re-encode my audio to a higher quality. Nevermind me guys...just babblin' to myself over here! Guess I'm putting off my "testing" agony as long as possible! |

That's why the "Notch" name is in there  -kwag |
New Sample
You guys want to see how "Death to Smoochy" looks like on one CD with the current script :?:
Here's a 10 second sample  http://www.kvcd.net/smoochy.mpg using CQ=51  -kwag |
8O 8O 8O 8O 8O
ehhh, what´s the play-time of the whole movie? |
Kwag..
samples continue looking good http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/error.gif http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/error.gif It amazes me how some time ago, peoples were on the bandwagon about your templates (be it matrix or GOP's) and I ask myself, "how they are missing all this great beneits, technique and yes, quality!!" If they only knew what they were 8O REALLY 8O missing he he.. I only hope that I can ADD to this knowlege-base w/ some more apps, in addition to picSwitch which works great for me in analizing the images prior to final encoding. Well, I have something else in mind, but between juggling multiple apps, new ideas (that keep flooding my brain) and the work that I bring in to finish up on at home, and surfing and much more fun stuff, we'll see, he he.. Keep up the good work guys. -vhelp |

I think I'll just edit the posted script, and add a space for users to add an "optional" filter like 3CD, STM, DCT, etc., ONLY if it's needed ;) -kwag |

I hate to be a complete idiot! :)
But i cannot seem to find unfilter anywheres to download... tks |
