Can you please try the following (had the same error and it worked for me):
Code:

Open TMPGEnc, go into Source Range, enter range from 0 to -1, exit window and leave source range activated. Save your project file and try again please.

kwag 07-25-2003 04:55 PM

Hi break,

What is the complete path to your file to be encoded. :?:
That would be the .avi or .d2v.

-kwag

tigger 07-25-2003 05:27 PM

hello there !

question before i start encoding over night!
iŽd like to have a 120min movie on a 90min cdr, well, my question is about the MINIMUM BITRATE; should i use 0,57*avg bitrate, or 0,75*avg bitrate ???

Hi Kwag, the path is
mpeg2source("c:\straight_scn\video_ts\movie.d2v")

@Krassi
Thanks Krassi, I'll try your suggestion as soon as I can shutdown TMPGEnc... 8O

MIN = 0.57 * average :)

ok!
thank you :))
i asked cause i seen both possibilities here in the forum :)

will try the new release with that and my 120 min movie *G*

good n8, its 1 oŽclock in the night, in germany :)

Nothing to do, I test it but no way, after the first encoding prediction, CQ go up to 90 (as in my precedent log)!

I just edited the "Instructions and notes" on the first post of this thread, with the correct way to set TMPEG's project file.

Instructions and notes:

1) *** TMPGEnc Project file must be saved as "text" project *** CQMatic will not read TMPGEnc's propietary project files
.

this is ok

2) You must make sure that you save the project without source range selection, and "Cut editing" cleared (or reset), and start frame set to 0 and end frame set to -1

this is ok

then I save the project, close TMPGEnc, run CQMatic and run prediction:
first pass as CQ 60, second... CQ 90!

Thank in any case, kwag. You are great: you program, encode your movie, reply to our posts and this all in the same time!

still same problem like break :(

1past 75, 2nd directly 90...:(

like said, its just with short movies here, other movies its doing well...

testing now new version with min bitrate = 0.57*avg bit, hope it will fit now :)

good n8 to everyone :)

That's the name of my output file name. That's the way it's set in my project file in TMPEG.
So it will be displayed in the log, to remind you it's going to be overwritten when TMPEG starts to encode ;)

Hi Kwag..

Thanks for the explanaa.. :)

Actually, I was looking for the "relevence" of your source. I have finally
 deduced that you were trying to test for "shorter" movie files, and hence,
you encoded something into an .m1v and was using THAT as your
short file TEST ??

Actually, no!
I encode all my movies as .m1v, and later, I mux the audio.
That's why all my project file's video file name always has a .m1v extension. :)

flood 07-26-2003 02:39 AM

Hi break,
I've had the same problem for the past week. If I would run CQMatic in prediction mode, TMPGEnc would pop up only for a second and close twice. I was getting the same text message everytime ending with a CQ of 90. If I performed a full encode, TMPGEnc would give me an illegal video steam error when CQMatic tried to open it.

It seemed like CQMatic started working again when I deleted the currentbatch.tbe and currentcfg.tpr file in the Tmpgenc folder and started TMPGEnc.exe up fresh. I'm not sure if it was just one of those files or both, but when I deleted them, everything worked. Maybe those files got corrupted somehow.

break,
You shouldn't have to delete it every time. That problem happened to me twice, and I think it happened when I cancelled a test prediction. For some reason those files or one of those files created a problem.

CQMatic seems to have problems with avi files...

kwag 07-27-2003 02:33 AM

Hi fn86,

I just noticed en error in your log, that I didn't pay attention before :!:
CQMatic is not predictiong AT ALL your source :!:
The line File size difference = -14885753.000000 is an impossible condition, because the software is doing a division of wanted file size by your sample file size. So it can never be negative :!:
So the problem seems to be the way your long path is set up in TMPEG, and I can't read it properly in CQMatic.

What is your complete path to your avi :?:

Same MIN/MAX for KDVD?

tigger 07-27-2003 06:00 AM

tested rc2 with 107 min movie,
set max 2500, min = 0.57*avg bitrate
cq predicted = 72,02
movie after muxxing = 808 mb
well a little bit too big, but just a little

test 2 :
83 min movie, max and min like above,
cq predicted = 77,31
video stream length = 727 mb, should be 715
again a little bit too high

well , think that the MAX bitrate is resulting in too high filesizes here.
testing now 83 min movie with MAX = 2000 and min = 0.57*avg bitrate,
with rc3

cq predicted here is 79,98.

will see results in 2,5 h :)

tigger 07-27-2003 08:50 AM

min=0,57*avg bitrate, max=2000, rc3

I have been getting the SAME problem consistently with both RC-1 and RC-2! I was able to get some great predictions with some of the earlier betas so I'm trying again with beta7. Haven't tried RC-3 yet though... I'm also using a max=2000 so maybe that has been a problem with the more recent RC's? However I've been using this all along, even when I got good prediction with the betas (only problem with the betas for me was the damn cq looping bug!)

I'll see if beta7 or rc-3 makes a difference, and if not I'll try max=2500. BTW this has all been in avi sources of normal movie length (90-120min), the good and the bad predictions.
