ok so i finally got the correct driver disk for the AIW 7500VE PCI card.
however having a weird audio issue.
the white audio input only works about half the time.
if i start MMC and it isnt working, i i have to close and restart MMC sometime a few times and then it will work.
tried 2 different brakeout cables and did an uninstall/reinstall - no dice
i have 2 7500ve cards and both do the same thing.
running MMC 9.03
any ideas?

lordsmurf 11-20-2013 06:19 PM

The wire could be buggy? Never seen that issue before, not in 10 years.

volksjager 11-20-2013 06:23 PM

after more screwing around and even trying MMC 8.8 and still the same issue.
i connected the audio outs from the VCR directly to the sound cards line in using a RCA to phono jack adapter.
bypassing the capture card completely.
doing this it works perfect every time - i did a few test captures and it did not seem out of sync.
is there any disadvantage doing it this way?
im using a Soundblaser Audigy 2 ZS

i tried 2 different decks and several different cables so it isnt cabling or decks.
never had this issue with the AGP card i use prior.
i seem to have found a workaround by connecting directly to the sound card as opposed to the breakout box, as long as it isnt going to create any new issues...

lordsmurf 11-20-2013 06:33 PM

I was referring to the breakout box (purple or domino dongle/wire). ;)

volksjager 11-24-2013 02:41 PM

i tried 2 different purple boxes - included the one i used with my AGP AIW.

have you ever tried connecting audio outs from the vcr directly to a sound card line-in?
i did it on a whim and was surprised it captured without running through the AIW at all.

-- merged --

another weird issue:
it is fine with CBR, but when i capture VBR the bitrates are way off.
i set a 352x480 for 4000 target and 4500 max and i end up with 2800 completed captures???
i never had these issue with my AGP card, wonder if i got a defective card? it was brand new sealed but...
this is running 4gb of DDR2 and a 3.0Ghz dual-core cpu
i also tired it on a Intel setup with 2gb of DDR2 and a 3.2ghz P4 with same results.(both the audio and VBR issues)

i have searched and searched but cant find any decent AGP boards that have at least 3 sata ports,DDR2, and not a Via chipset. i have good CPU's here for sockets 478, 775 and AM2

Every run across MMC 9.04? Goggling finds some hits for folks saying it worked for their 550/650. Apparently was never made available as a download. Those who said it worked said they found it "hidden" on their orig install cd. Didn't find it on my 550 (180-V01105-200) or 650 (180-V0118-100) cds.

RE: ATI MMC 9.04

It would be nice. I've emailed some others online.

This one is our best lead: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r137...heater-550-Pro
I'm also a member of dslreports.com, and sent him a private message. He's an active user, and was last online just 14 hours ago.
I hope he has it, and we can attach it on the forum for others.

Unfortunately, this is NOT one that is in our archive. It was only on a few early ATI 550 discs.

We'll have to wait and see what happens. :wait:

Have you tried to use ATI MMC 9.08? We do have that one. See attached.

Octavian is a 550 user that'd posted on a number of forums in years past. This post he wrote on ATI MMC hacking may be useful. (I've edited it to be concise and quoted below.)

Quote:

Possible MMC 9.06/9.08 to T550P MOD

hypothesis: It has been postulated that all versions of MMC 9.03 and above are capable of supporting the T550P. Since MMC 9.03 and MMC 9.04 detect, accept and install on T550P based systems it is presumed that ATI simply disabled T550P detection, acceptance and subsequent proper installation of MMC for said hardware in the install program itself. It is further assumed that overall support for the T550P remains unchanged in the MMC software package itself but simply cannot be installed due to the install program’s inherent hardware detection discrimination. Therefore, manipulating the MMC install program itself to recognize and accept T550P hardware should result in a working MMC/T550P setup.

Technical note: There is no guaranteeing that the latest version of MMC will have superior performance with the T550P. Improvements over MMC 9.03/9.04 are unlikely since development for the T550P with respect to MMC has supposedly ceased.

Prerequisite: The following components will be necessary for successful installation of MMC 9.06/9.08 (or the latest version of MMC) on T550P based systems.
- Original MMC 9.03 or 9.04 install CD (Source)
- Original MMC 9.06/9.08 (or latest version) install CD (target)
- Theater 550 Pro tuner card
- MMC Supporting OS

Technical note: The use of downloadable versions of MMC 9.03/9.04 and MMC 9.06/9.08 (or newer) may be possible but are outside of the scope of this article. In order to use such downloadable versions one must first extract all individual files necessary from the self-extracting executable file(s) made from said downloads.

Methodology: The technique is simple and very easy to execute. From your original install CD, copy all files pertaining to MMC 9.06 or 9.08 (or the latest version of MMC) to a folder on your HDD. From your original MMC 9.03 or 9.04 install CD, drag and drop the file named “ATIMMC.msi” (Windows Installer Package) to the MMC 9.06/9.08 folder on your HDD. Allow it to overwrite the original MMC 9.06/9.08 “ATIMMC.msi” file.

Install: At this point simply start the MMC install process as usual by clicking “setup.exe”. Then click “next”. Read the “License agreement” and if you agree to it click “yes”.

Install: Enter or accept the necessary “customer information” and then click “next”. Click “custom” and then select the features you wish to install.

The user should now find that the T550P is indeed detected by the install program. It should be seen as “TV” or if you have additional ATI multimedia hardware it should be either “TV” or “TV2”. In such a multi tuner case you will have to designate the T550P as the primary or secondary tuner after the install or simply accept the default selection.

Finally click “next”.

This Method should work for MMC 9.06 and MMC 9.08 but please note that there hasn’t been a “Proof of concept installation” and as such it is untested !!!

Technical note: Newer or older versions of MMC may have slight variations of the Data1.cab file that generate error massages when or if missing files are encountered. In such a case, editing the CAB file by extracting the contents of the CAB file and adding the missing files should correct it. A new CAB file would then have to be made. Methods for editing and creating a new CAB file are outside the scope of this article.

Secondary Method: Alternatively, copy the MMC 9.03/9.04 install files to the HDD and then overwrite its “Data1.cab” file with the MMC 9.06/9.08 “Data1.cab” file. It is unknown which Method is a superior method.

Technical note: If for some reason there are problems with the installation with respect to the T550P the user can likely uninstall MMC as usual without issue. The user can also try installing MMC 9.03/9.04 and then copying the registry in its entirety. Uninstall the MMC 9.03/9.04 installation and then install the MMC 9.06/9.08 MOD. Restoring the registry at this point may correct a T550P glitch but once again,….this is all untested!!! Proceed at your own risk!!! As always, backup any important data!!!
Attached below is ATI MMC 9.03. :congrats:

I'm going to look into ATI MMC for the ATI 600 USB card on Windows XP. I doubt it'll work, but it something I can at least try. ATI MMC does work in Vista and Win7, though I've found it very a difficult scenario to recreate.

dianedebuda 01-01-2014 06:27 AM

kpmedia, I have mmc 9.08 that I downloaded back in 2009. Vaguely remember trying it, but don't remember results, so suspect it was not successful. I was only up to W2K at that time on the (slow) desktop boxes, so that may have been the cause. See that I also downloaded the release notes then. Any use here? Have Release Notes for a few of the Catalyst (6.2, 6.11, 6.13, 10.2, 10.9) downloads too.

lordsmurf, this mmc 9.03/9.08 hybrid sounds promising. Will try.

Thanks.

1 is for an ATI E-Home Wonder and the other is a PCI VE

Kowa1 05-01-2014 03:49 PM

Importatnt question

Does the Ati card has to be AIW or only have to have Rage Theatre chipset ?
Have 9550 vivo with ATI Rage Theater ( not Theatre ) 213RT1ZUA43 MKLPW 0516AA.
What's up ?
Regards

vhsdigital34 06-15-2014 11:23 AM

This guide has been great for me to get caught up quickly with what needs to get done.

Unfortunately for me it looks like it's missing ISOs and/or install listings that would work for my AIW 7500 VE PCI card. If available, can we get an installation listing or ISO for 180-V01060-100? I have an NT line with XP SP3 (missed my exit with SP2 when Microsoft still supported XP)

Thank you very much. Appreciate any help I can get to get this card rolling

Zerowalker 06-15-2014 04:18 PM

I think i actually have the same card.

I have two different Driver setups, not sure which of them is correct, please try this one, if it doesn't work i will upload the other (It's to big for SendSpace).

vhsdigital34 06-15-2014 05:02 PM

Thanks zerowalker,

That ISO is already available here and doesn't work for my card/set up.
http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vide....html#post9470

What's the other CD's version?

Zerowalker 06-15-2014 05:37 PM

The other one is: 180_V01060_100

vhsdigital34 06-15-2014 05:44 PM

That's the one people were looking for

Zerowalker 06-15-2014 08:57 PM

know where i can upload it?
It's a bit over 300mb.

vhsdigital34 06-16-2014 12:09 AM

Yup. Right here. =)
http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/news...ly-upload.html

Zerowalker 06-16-2014 03:36 AM

It doesn't allow over 32mb, mine is 310mb.

EDIT:
Oh guess you want me to split it up?
Damn hate stuff like that.
Will do like this, i will upload it to my google drive, when you got it, i will remove it from there as it takes to much space:P
