Sorry to inform you but nope. Those are strictly video-out only boards, and that S-Video port is to connect to a TV. The card would of originally came with an ATI small break-out thing to give you red-green-blue "Component Out" ports to connect to a TV, and that goes in that port.

Preview works 100% fine, just the capture is broken. Aggravating as its so close to working!

On an unrelated note, the ATI AIW9600XT AGP captures perfectly under Windows 98SE. :P

Solution: Device ID - ntativrv01 not installed on Windows XP?

Please note! Do NOT extract the files on one PC, and then move them to the other as folders. Apparantly this caused some drivers not to be transferred when I installed the drivers.

Copy the installation files as is(You can extract them from the zip first) - And then copy them to the computer in question.

I had a problem with the WDM drivers not being installed and getting the message above. This led to the TV drivers not being installed.

I have a 9600XT and installed the 180_V01084_100 driver disc, all components. I do not get any live preview in VirtualDub and can't seem to find the ATI MMC (?) to try that also. I picked the S-Video input in VirtualDub but only see a black screen.
Did I install the wrong driver set? I'm running XP SP2 with a P4 3.2ghz w/ HT, 1.5GB DDR-400 RAM, 80GB Velociraptor HDD.

Hello everyone. This is a very good site with lots of info! But I still need your help. I found my old P3 with the ATI All-In-Wonder Pro (the old AGP one with the 3D Rage Pro chip with 8mb of RAM!!) and unfortunately, the HDD wasn't working. I replaced it, reinstalled OS and tried to find drivers with limited success. I was able to see video using Win98 coming from the cable input but as soon as I clicked on record, the ATI app hangs (it always happens when I click on record). I tried with WinXP SP3 but no luck at all (No video from any input). Would any of you have the original CD for it? I don't mind if it is 98 or XP. Thank a lot.

ATI never made drivers for the AIW Pro for Windows XP. That card uses the Brooktree BT829 Pro capture chip, not the Rage Theater like the AGP cards have. VirtualDub capture likely works under Windows 9x, but that machine is much too slow to support full 720x480 @ 29.97fps capture.

ATI made beta capture drivers available for this card for Windows 2000 bundled with MMC 7.0, they may or may not work for you under XP: ftp://ftp.brain.it/public/Driver/ATI...O/mmc7wb37.exe

You may also want to give MMC 7.2 a shot, this version is XP compatible and may include BT829 capture drivers: ftp://ftp.brain.it/public/Driver/ATI..._7_1_noDVD.exe

Still no luck, the TV Player splash screen shows up and hangs. I installed Direct-X 9 before installing the ATI software. Does it need DX 8? Starting to wonder if the ATI tv tuner is still working :(

Is there a driver for something along the lines of "BT829 WDM Capture" showing in the Win2k/XP device manager? If so try capturing with VirtualDub.

Yes I have that driver and I tried VirtualDub who also hangs as soon as I select BT829 as the input. Maybe the card is defective?

Alright so I installed Windows ME + Direct X 8.1 + VirtualDub and I see the video input of the tuner and I can record but I can't play the recorded file at all. Windows Movie Maker also see the input from tuner but can't record. Any suggestions? Seems like using the crappy ATI drivers/software breaks it. Thanks

I was able to resolve the issues with my 9600XT previously. I just did not have the purple breakout box plugged in - stupid me.

I'm trying a plain jane 9000 AIW to see if it'll capture color over S-Video when connected directly to my Philips VR1000 or JVC HR-S7600U (the 9600XT does not see color), but no drivers will install. I've tried the 180 and 181 driver discs, and the 6168 files. Any ideas?

Thank you for this hacks guide which enabled me to reuse an old AIW 128 Pro PCI with MMC 8.7 to back up a lot of VHS tapes I had lying around and I'd like to pass along some things I learned.

The value of a dedicated AGP platform has been discussed, but many modern motherboards still have at least two PCI slots which can be used with a sound card and AIW 128 Pro or VE to dual-boot WinXP. BIOS settings have to be set to boot PCI video first otherwise all AIW devices such as Theater chip capture will not be enabled in Device Manager. My PCIe video is a 8800GT in an adjacent slot (primary video for Win 7 boot) with minimum XP drivers installed to satisfy 'unknown VGA' in Device Manager, or maybe just easier to let it stay driverless. The AIW must be the primary monitor and XP gives a 'old drivers' disparity warning if trying to extend desktop to the 8800gt which will default to a weird resolution and 4-bit color mode. Installing the full weight of modern GeForce or ATI Catalyst drivers for an adjacent PCIe video card is enough to break MMC at launch, probably by overwriting some of the XPSP2 files. My setup is a MSI motherboard with Phenom II X6, and can capture MPEG2 at highest resolutions and variable bitrates with the CPU idling and without dropping frames :)

The AIW is sensitive to sound cards as also has been discussed, and I found it works perfectly with a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 SB0100 and XPSP2 built-in drivers. I have two other Sound Blaster cards, different models, both needed additional XP drivers, and both also broke MMC... The SB0100 are cheap and plentiful. Also, use the XPSP2 built-in drivers with a 128 Pro, the 'updated' ones from ATI also break MMC...

There's something about AMD systems and the VideoSoap feature 'greyed out' in MMC, v8.7 anyway. I tried the same installation on a PIII CUSL2 motherboard and VideoSoap was available. Don't know if other versions of MMC or other AMD processors are affected. MMC 8.7 is the only one I was able to load with the 128 Pro, maybe a AIW VE works with later MMC versions that fixes any AMD VideoSoap bug. Tried installing newer 9.x versions of MMC after editing the hack .bat files but no luck, a 'loading MMC 8.7' message comes up along the way followed by errors.

Also, I used a 32G Samsung SSD for the XP boot giving rapid boot-up times and instant response to the keyboard and mouse. XP is not SSD-aware so doesn't support features like TRIM but otherwise works fine, the Samsung is also a SLC which may give better endurance than MLC in XP.

Hope this helps someone interested in AIW video capture on current PCIe video platforms. You're limited to the Theater 100 chip and VGA monitor output (no DVI on AIW 128 Pro or VE) but still a great alternative to AGP.

This is my first post, and as of this morning I'm the proud owner from an estate sale of the original All-In-Wonder Card "38603 101", dated 1996, with a CD labeled ATI software release 435 for win 95/3.1/NT/ and OS2 Warp, all cables and documentation. I heavily suspect this is the very first card of this series.

I have prepared a dedicated system with XP Home for it and a compatible slot, but I'm not in a huge rush to install it and would like to to get quality advice on what driver sets to use.

I'm hoping this old of a card did have XP support?

PS: I'm curious if anyone in the community or the admins have an interest in my archiving the software on this CD? It's "180-G01023-435". I notice the admin doesn't seem to have a copy of this one specifically referenced in an earlier message in this thread.

That card pre-dates the Radeon/Theatre, and is completely useless by even legacy standards. It was already obsolete 15 years ago. That's not what you want for video capture.
