I wanted to fit this movie (146 min, PAL, 16:9, 704x576, anamorphic) to one CDR80.
I used the 'KVCD-LBR-352x288-_PAL_-PLUS' template in combination with faerydust and convolution3d.

With the settings min 300, max 1150, vbv40, cq74 the movie really fits one CDR but the output has audio skips on pioneer dv-444.

Bad Luck! So I have to increase the min bitrate to a value of 500-650. B ut when I do this a have to decrease the cq to a value of 58-60.

Which CQ value is the lowest one you recommend where the qulality is still good?

Do I have any other chances to handle the audio skips? A read something about burning as svcd or setting the vbv to 22.

The vbv 22 version has audio skips, too.
pioneer dv-444 doesn't play mpeg1 burning as svcd so far for me.

Do I have to add a svcd header/offset to the mpeg1 file before burning it as svcd?

Alright Jack here's my tip...

I would really suggest you find out your self which quality you accept and which you don't... use file size prediction, encode a sample that will fit on one CD with the min. bitrate set to your needs, burn it to RW and watch it on TV... If you're not satisfied with the quality tweak your settings or go for 2 CDs...

Thanks Jellygoose!

I think when the aim is to fit it on one cdr80 it is possible, but not in a very acceptable quality. At least when you have to put up the min bitrate.

When your aim is to get a good quality you have to make it with 2 cdrs, because the movie is still 146 mins.

But I'm very very interested if it is possible to let the pioneer dv444 play mpeg1 files without audio skips without increasing the min bitrate.

I still hope for someone who is telling me that.

Well I don't have that player, but have you tried MPEG2 ? Have you muxed the audio with BBMPEG? what's the birate? what's the frequency? maybe the player doesn't like 44khz or 48khz... I'd try lots of samples....
