TMPGEnc: What Frame Rate for Interlaced File?

I have a "The Making Of" which is a pure interlaced VOB, I want to encode to a Mpeg-2 (KDVD) interlaced file (because I don't want to have ghosting effect by de-interlacing). Do I have to convert to 23.97 in FitCD and encode at 23.97 in Tmpeg (I know I have to select "interlace" in Tmpeg)??

You have to encode at 29.97 interlaced.

Hi Kwag,
I tried encoding at 29.97 (interlace), whenever the view is pan, it jerks, it is not as smooth as what I see in the original (but there is no combing effect though!). Is there any way to fix it??

Note: I just used FitCD to resize to 704x480, I did not touch anything else, I did not IVTC just left it as it was.

Are you sure that VOB is interlaced, and not 24fps internally

What do mean by "24fps internally"?

If it's a VOB from a movie (DVD), most probaly it was shot FILM. To find out, open the VOB in DVD2AVI and press "F5". Look at the stats window and see if it shoes interlaced or >95% FILM after ~15 seconds. It it's FILM, then you have to create a project with DVD2AVI using "Forced FILM" checked, and encode at 23.976 and not at 29.97.

I am sure that it shows "29.97" and "NTSC" in DVD2AVI.

Try changing the field order in TMPGENC, advanced - top (A) first or bottom (B) first.
