Have you tried burning with ImgTool ?
That's what I use, and I'm having a ball with my new ( 2 day old ) Sony DRX-500UL External USB/FireWire DVD+RW(2.4X) DVD-RW(2X)...

ImgTool works with Nero's API. You just need to install a demo version of Nero, and that will work fine :D
Just download Nero from www.ahead.de and install it, then download ImgTool version 1.00.4...

I've been working with "StarWars II", which is 2 hours 20 minutes. I seem to be limited to level 5 compression due to file size. How did you handle "The Green Mile"? It seems compression beyond 1...

Yes, you can :)
But make sure you rip in "File" mode. Not in "IFO" mode.
Use DVD Decrypter if possible :wink:

And there's just no way (yet) to put ~6 hours full D-1 on a DVD with great quality, except with KDVD :mrgreen:
