That's the job of telecide and decimate :)
You put both lines right after your "mpeg2source()" line

I'm pretty sure audi2honda's episodes are on DVD, because that "Hybrid" pattern wouldn't show if it was a TV capture. Then, as you say, a plain deinterlace would be the cure :)

I think you're going to have a problem there. What you are describing, seems that "Sex in the City" is filmed in a mix of FILM and VIDEO.
