AviSynth has a FadeOut filter. It's a little limited but you can use Dissolve + Blackness filters to create a fadeout effect the way you want. They are easy to use, and you can find all about these...

Never tried to cut an mpeg2...
but I did try to join 2 mpeg2, and every thing was ok.

But I always do the cut with DVD2AVI and never had synch problems. :roll:
Btw, I cut with 2 secs over the point I want. That's for a fade-out effect. :wink:

Lets say you have a 10min movie.
Before you mux video+audio, you set the first part to mux from 0 sec to 300 sec.
The second part you set to go from 298 sec (2sec overlap) till the end.
