I've been playing with DVD Rebuilder recently. Very, very nice program. Seems to mux perfectly. Shame QuEnc isn't quite ready for production use yet (or maybe it was just my settings)...

Yep, I use wxWidgets a lot. It's not perfect but it's way nicer than MFC (is anything less nice than MFC?), and it also means I don't have to learn Cocoa, Carbon or Objective-C.

By "interface" I...

Well, I now have 350 fun-filled lines of code representing the various structures found within IFO files. Now I've got to figure out a nice object-oriented interface to it all, because I'll be damned...

Also, "VMG category" at 0x22. Four bytes. Byte 1 is the region code, but the other three are unexplained. They're zero on the IFO I'm using for testing.

Yup, amongst other things. I spent a couple days searching for and downloading info -- I have a folder with a couple of dozen PDFs I made from web pages...

Coding has begun ;). Right now I'm making a command line tool, I'll convert it into a GUI when decent functionality is there.

At the moment it loads VIDEO_TS.IFO and pulls out most of the...

Whether or not this proposed tool will be able to do it, I don't know. I don't want to make it an authoring package -- there are already plenty of those. I'd prefer to concentrate on manipulating...

It might turn out nice if I can ever get my head around MPEG2 program streams, MPEG2 video, VOBs, and IFOs ;).

That would be awesome if you could. Splitting the re-encoded elementary stream...

I was thinking about how one could split the re-encoded elementary stream into its constituent cells without confusing the MPEG decoder, and came up with a simple solution. It's simple to describe,...

I have some plans for this tool which I think might make it unique enough to warrant a commercial release (perhaps a cut-down free version and a more complete "pro" version), so I'm planning on...

Yep. But I don't really like the sound of either method -- I'd rather it was done "automatically" by the tool. Having to set chapter points, or mess with GOP structures, manually for every movie...

Re: Simple approach to re-encoding? (NOT transcoding)

Actually I was considering a cell-by-cell approach, if only because it avoids the problem of figuring out cell play-order. But that's not to say one would have to encode each cell separately (which...
