i too went from 192mb of sdram to 1 x 512mb of ddr 266....
and had no probs...i think the first time it wouldnt boot {i did check to make sure i had it...

Well thats the thing you guys upgraded from same DDR,
But i was upgrading from SDRAM to DDR which make since
in having to reset the CMOS in the board.

Yes, i Know it would'nt make much difference in speed, but for the reason
that you stated above and also it would be a lot easier on multiple task.
Now my question about the ram higher speed PC...
