Do you use avs2.52 ? if not, go to it ! And if yes, try to add a "convertToYV12()" after the load of your source.
Why don't you just find in virtualdub the part of your video...

I use fluxsmooth but it's hard to tell if it fix the artifacts _you_ have. The best is that _you_ do the test, no ?
