That is because the filename of the last source used for cut edting is memorized that you need to reset it manually each time !...

Crappy source and/or crappy installed codec.

Try first to update to the last Nic's Xvid codec and Divx5.05 (or 5.1.1). Then configure both of them to output YV12 (it is called "Enhanced YV mode"...
