I think your right about the shielding, so Scart may turn out the best option.

I always thought that RF was the worst way to connect video equipment.

Do you mean RF out? There's no way i'd use that. The quality is terrible.

So which connections are best for capturing from a VCR?
Scart to S-Video or Scart to Composite?
I'm thinking of getting the Hauppauge PVR-350 and it has both S-Video and Composite.
