I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. I captured a full length film of 90 mins. from VHS. I want to burn it onto DVD.

When I export it to an AVI the sound is synced just fine with the video.
However when I convert to MPEG 2 (DVD quality) using Adobe Media Encoder (NOT TMPGE) the sound is off the deeper it goes into the film.

I am multiplexing it before conversion. I set the MPEG export mode to DVD setting under the encoder.

Any help with this?

Thanks,

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

After you export to AVI from Premiere, use VirtualDub to extract your audio.
Make sure you use "Full processing mode" on vDub, on the audio tab.
Now encode your AVI->MPEG-2 with an .avs script, so it only gets the video from AviSynth, and the audio from the extracted WAV file.

Your .avs should look something like this:
Code:
AviSource("C:\YourAVIFile.avi", false)
That will feed your encoder with the video portion only, so you can choose the external WAV audio source which should be in sync with the video, as extracted by vDub.
Give that a try

Thanks, Kwag!

I have both virtual dub and AVI Synth now and will get to work. I will contact you to let you know how it goes, but that was a big help. Additonal thanks for such a great site. This has helped me considerably in other aspects as well.
I have extracted the audio to my desktop after doing what you said and then choosing Save WAV, correct? The confusion for me is converting from AVI to MPEG 2 or is that done through Premiere usng the AVIsynth script?

Sincerely,

BH Smith

Hi Kwag;

Here's what I have done. I want you to know I have read the forums and went to virtual dub.org to walk me through before bothering you.

My AVI is 45 minutes long.

I followed the steps above and put my AVI into V.Dub.
I checked full processing mode for audio.

I am lost after that. Do I convert through Adobe's media encoder? I have TMPGE but where do I load the script from? There's nowhere in Adobe's encoder that allows me to load the script or the separate wav file.

I don't know how to get the video from AVI to MPEG2 format and basically am lost. Sorry to sound dumb.

Bruce
