i would like to convert a avi file to dvd standard mpeg2 file so it would be able to play on my dvd player. the problem is that using tmpgenc and the kdvd template together, it cuts alot of the frame out. it's like my movie is in the center, and a large black frame thing is surrounding my movie. is there a way to fix this using tmpgenc?

Verify the "video arrangement' setting. Change it to 'center (keep aspect ratio)'.

None of the LVCD or KDVD template deal with audio. Didn't you see that the audio source line is empty

The audio should be encoded by an audio encoder. Tmgpenc is a VIDEO encoder. That's why we choose to let the audio part on the side.

Use either besweet or headac3che to encode the audio.
You can also use tmpgenc but this it NOT recommanded.

1 - Don't you always encode audio with TMPGEnc? (or maybe only multiplex with it, I don' remember this.)
2 - If we select an external audio encoder (lame?), it is same as besweet or headac3he audio encoding?

I do multiplex with tmpgenc. I encode audio only when I do avi sources that have weird fps as this is the only way to have all in synch at the first attempt.

First it will be toolame, and not lame (lame produces MP3, toolame does MP2). And it will be the same as besweet configured with toolame (the default) but not if you choosed mp2enc (that is better imho). Headac3che also use mp2enc as encoding engine.

How hard did you look? Searching for tooLAME on Google will give you the desired result quite easily..
