Hello

Just wondering would a movie encoded using divx 4 play with divx 5.1 installed surely it would just i have a movie thats been encoded with divx 4 and all i get when opened is a black screen no errors appear just a black screen and i can sound.

anyone any ideas?

Welcome to the incompatible world of MPEG-4
In theory, version 5.x should be backwards compatible with 4.x.
But who knows , because there are so many MPEG-4 CODECs, like XviD, DivX, etc., which is the reason I won't buy any standalone DVD player that supports MPEG-4.
It's going to be a (yearly) circus,downloading firmware updates to support the wild encodes out there
