CCE with DVD-REBUILDER does not support KVCD Notch Matrix!
I'm making a 1 to 1 DVD backup, (1 DVD to 1 DVD+R)
& basicly I'm using a program that lets me script but wont let me use all of KWAGS lates script. (Only have room for 5 lines i think) undot() asharp(1, 4) STMedianFilter(3, 3, 1, 1 ) MergeChroma(blur(1.5)) MergeLuma(blur(0.1)) LetterBox(16, 16, 16, 16) THAT'S IT THERE ... but when its done the KDVD copy is waaaay brighter than the original DVD ... Plus it slows the program down (8 hours 1 DVD) Usually I can do it in 4 hrs. My question is " What filter(s) can I add to this script so that the brightness is reduced by 25 % & what can I add/delete to make this script faster in encoding time ? |
Assuming your source dvd is good qualitym why have you got so many
smoother and blur filters there? You've basically got a dot remover, a sharpener, then 3 blur-type filters.. I've found in the past that the merge Chroma/Luma filters do mess up the contrast/brightness. |
Well what I'm doing is using the kvcd notch matrix with a program (which works with Cinema Craft Encoder) to make 1 original DVD-9 movie fit on 1 DVDR-5 (this way theres no quality loss & get get to keep all extras & menu) rather than the old way of using a trascoder like nero or dvd shrink which only lets u do movieonly backups to a 4.7 dvd+r
You just loose too much quality that way. But my question just still remains unanswered I need a set of filters that gets rid of jagged edges on cartoon movies & reduces the apearance of bitrate shortage around the characters & subtitles & to also remove blockiness The filters i chose did it all except they made the pic waay too bright & made cce take 8 hours instead of 4 like it should be. ANY new filtering ideas? this is what my filters are like undot() asharp(1, 4) STMedianFilter(3, 3, 1, 1 ) MergeChroma(blur(1.5)) MergeLuma(blur(0.1)) LetterBox(16, 16, 16, 16) Help please My only problem with my scrip is speed & brightness otherwise the script works. Anyway to shortin the encoding time by half & make the brightness & contrast normal?? OK OK UPDATE I took your advice & removed MergeLuma & MergeChroma now I need to get rid of these tiny thin fine lines that apear in the destination file (lines only a true videophile like me would care about any ideas fellas ?? |
Did you tried to remove asharp?
|
Yes i did that makes the pic quality much better but tiny very thin lines still appear (can notice when i zoom in just once)
I still keep getting the bitrate shortage around subtitles & character/people & some jagged edges this is what my script looks like now undot() STMedianFilter(3, 3, 1, 1 ) LetterBox(16, 16, 16, 16) |
Whats a good set of 2 or 3 filters that are a must have if my source is an original DVD?
|
Whats the program
big secret :D I wanted a simple script for good dvd sources and Phil and Jorel and i even see them using it on doom9 is this Deen() Undot() don't know if it is what you are looking for |
as in another thread you are asking about use or not use letterbox for your next (new) widescreen tv, i send my recomendations here for the filters and resolutions(resizes/addborders/letterbox):
don't resize the movies(dvds sources of course)...use only: Undot() Deen() nothing more....you will get good compression, great quality and will never loose anything in the borders getting the original AR from the source. but wait...maybe anyone have better hints!  bigggt was faster! :P @ bigggt if you search and follow the dates,i think that we was using that "kiss" filter before the friends in d9! |
Thank 4 replying quickly, I didn't quite understand what u were asking me but r u trying to tell me what 2 filters to use ?
|
Hi jorel ... I'ma try those 2 filters in a 15 minute test encode,
so r u trying to say i shouldn't use the LetterBox(16, 16, 16, 16) at all?? |
I was just joking about the program :D and yes about the 2 filters i have used them and they seem to work great
@ Jorel You know i am new to dvd2svcd so i have been trying to read alot of the post over at doom9, there is a lot of information over there and a lot to take in :D |

O.M.G. I took your advice & jus finished a small 15 minute test & with your choice of 2 filters & no resize.
I've gotten the pic quality to be almost beautiful!! 8) I'ma making a full DVD backup of "A bugs life" it's an anamated movie the only problem i have now is i sometimes get a bitrate shortage around the little charicters (I'm getting little bugs around the bugs) LOL LOL  Is there 1 more filter i can add to remedy this problem? other than that pic quality is wicked !! |

as i never used DVD-Rebuilder before, i think that better is change to D2S with Roba to do the job...test it first and see if you get differences. |
This is mosquito noise and has nothing to do with bit shortrage. But you can at least :
1/ use the letterbox(16,16,16,16) line as, if I understood well, you do not do any resizing and these 16px boruder will be in the overscan, so it's better to put blck there than a picture. 2/ be sure that you are using the last deen (august 2003) and not the one from 2002. |
glad i caught u phil how about my overscan question about widescreen tvs & letterbox16161616 ??

@ jorel, when u say d2s u mean dvd2svcd right? doesnt that program take like 12 to 24 hrs to do 1 movie?
|
with CCE266 we can choose the kvcd notch matrix. and if The Untouchable want only bugs life for 1 Kdvd media he can choose Q1 in CCE and using the ac3-5.1 channels from the source...don't need predictions for that target! |
are u refering to dvd2svcd or dvd rebuilder phil ??
I'm using kvcd notch matrix with dvd rebuilder i patched my cce with vmequitos kvcd patch for vrs 2.67 & i think dvd rebuilder has no choice but to use the kvcd notch matrix, am i wrong? maybe |
