I have some questions concerning the resolution.
Since I have began with kvcd, i have usually used MPEG1 (352x28. But now i want to try with the resolutions: 352x576 or 512x528 (MPEG1)

I have some clips avi, and i want to convert them to kvcd (352x576 or 528x576). the resolutions of the clips are:

640x272
640x352
600x248
576x304
512x272
592x312
i have tried to convert all of these clips using 352x288 - max(2100) -min(300) - CQ_VBR (50), and i have obtained the sizes between (520MB-600MB), for that reason i have decided to convert them to another resolution. moreover in order to try with new resolutions.

I would like to choice between the resolutions above mentionned (352x576 - 528x576) for KVCD (MPEG1), so i must base on the horizontal or the vertical? because i have read that someones said that the vertical is not important and other ones that the horizontal is not important. maybe i am mistaken.

Thanks Men very much.

Trust only the horizontal. Take the closest one that is under the original width.

Some SAPs do play VCD and not SVCD.
Someones do play SVCD and not VCD.
SVCD supports selectables subtitles and VCD do not.
Some SAPs supports mpeg2 multichannel mp2 output for SVCD but not for VCD.
Quality is related with how you encode your KVCD/KDVD.
You can do a KVCD with high quality, better than a SKVCD.
The opposite also is possible.
Header trick is only for SAPs that don't support SVCD (or vice versa).
Differences between VCD and SVCD are not only in the header, but lucky SAPs seems don't know it.
