Hi Forum,
Thankfully I have resolved my problems with CQ Matic and the errors it was returning. It is often said you overlook the most simple mistake. In this case I had installed both programs in the TMPGEnc folder which I think was interfearing with thec final readings and prediction process. I installed both in there own folder in program files and Hey Presto' it works. However that said I have one question which perhaps any member could clarify for me when using this program. This is when using the Average Bitrate in the results section of Calcumatic, do you use the top figure Ie. the one named AVERAGE BITRATE or the one under neath Labelled AVERAGE.
Clarification sought here please as using the top one Im getting some strange encodes using the former.
Thanks people,
Blubear.

The second one is "0.57 * average" and it was used as setting for MIN birate to obtain the best accuracy with CQMatic. But I never use this value and have rare failures.

Hello phil,
Forgive my slowness but are you saying ordinarily I should use the figure marked as AVERAGE next to the 0.57 figure or have I got That Wrong. Also you say you dont use the 0.57 as a minimum. What do you use then, and how would you obtain that figure which you would use.
Thanks.
Steve.

I use 64 as min for all my encoding since the very fist KVCD I did and I never changed that.

Hi Bluebear i will just clarify this becuase i read this thread an am not sure you understand it(because i can't)

THe average bitrate you get in Calcumatic you put that number in CQ matic and the .57 average you put in Tmpges min bitrate box.

Thanks for reply phil,
So would I assume that this would be shown as 0.64 Right? and for inputing the the Bitrate figure into CQMatic would you simply copy/Paste the figure next to this reading as the Average Bitrate or is it the figure above this.. this is what I am primarily confused about, ie. which figure is input into CQMatic. AVERAGE BITRATE as shown or merely the AVERAGE shown next to the 0.57 or in this case the 0.64 one

Hi Bigggt,
Ohh Durr.. how dim do I feel. I wondered for ages what that figure was for. Many Thanks for clearing that up. That explains to a degree why my latest encodes are a bit ropey!! I may have answered a question with a question in my last submitted post so please excuse if I have I sent it prior to the reply. Can you just confirm which figure I need to place in CQMatic if you have been following this thread please.
Thanks mate
Steve.

The essential is that you finally understood and enjoy your encoding

Whatever your standalone DVD player supports.
You're going to have to make several tests with different MAXes, to find out.
