I don't know where to post this but i used dvd2svcd so i thought here would be OK

I ripped a movie with dvd decrypter and there is a widescreen version and a fullscreen version on the same dvd

I choose to use the widescreen which i always do but on my TV the opening credits some of the names are off the screen,

My tv is 4:3 but i have never had this problem before ,i ran the finished encode through powerdvd and the words are perfect(where they are supposed to be) its just wrong on my TV

Is this normal and if i had a 16:9 tv it would be correct.its just i have been using dvd rebuilder alot lately and not using dvd2svcd so i don't know if i did something wrong

edit- I just found this setting aspect ratio out and i had Anamorphic(no borders, encoded as 16:9) would this cause the problem
thanx

Hi bigggt,

You probably encoded 16:9 instead of 4:3, right
If you did, that's why it looks OK on your software player and incorrect on your TV.

Yes Karl i did ,like i said i haven't used dvd2svcd in a while and all i checked was that it was using the KDVD template and the Notch matrix.

So even if a movie is in 16:9 format(widescreen) i still need to do it as 4:3 to view it correctly on my TV

thanx

Thanx Karl

Just to make sure

4:3 ( No borders,encoded as 4:3)
16:9 ( borders addeded,encoded as 4:3)
Anamorphic (no borders,encoded as 16:9)

For a widscreen movie to be palyed on a 4:3 TV you should always choose the second option

thanx
