I have set Quantize Matix for KDVD, but I am having trouble finding the controls for setting the KDVD GOP in CCE. I am using SP 2.70.02.10. Please help.

GOP length is managed by parameter M / N under "Advanced" settingd.
Set them to the max values (M=3 and N=5) to have a GOP with 15 frames (CCE can't go above that)

From what I've heard, you might be able to use longer GOPs if you edit the ecl file and put larger values there. Then just load the ecl file in CCE and start encoding without touching the options in the GUI again.

Using these will give you 24-frame GOPs:
gop_m=3
gop_nm=8
gop_hdr=24

hmm... i guess i don't understand GOP enough to comprehend all that. I have just copy/pasted the GOP settings from kdvd template in tmpgenc plus to the xpress app and that worked fine. I suppose I need to learn more about what GOP is, so I can understand what you mean. Do you know of a link for definition?

OK i did some messing with cce and saved a template as a ecl. here is what i see for GOP when i open with notepad:

GOP (M),3
GOP (N/M),4
GOP length,12
Sequence header,1
All closed GOP,0
Last is I frame,0
Fixed GOP length,0
Fixed VBV delay,0

i see the M and N/M settings but what of the GOP Header? is that the sequence header, you speak of?

Do not set the resolution with CCE (in the template or the ecl), but with the avisynth script that you use as source. CCE is worst in the resizing than tmpgenc !

This is a good template. For half resolution you can reduce the max bitrate to 6000. The GOP is the default, set to M=3, M/N=5 (means GOP length = 15). You can change the values as suggested by Boulder but there is really no reason.

well I tried CCE. Did not like it at all. I finally purchased TMPGEnc XPress 4.2.3.193. I setup kdvd parameters. The result is F__king superb. The ability to encode to ac3 2.0 at the same time as the encode of the video, the speed, the built in filters, and just overall end product is blowing my mind. it is well worth the 99 bucks. I have been using plus 2.524 for some time and I always hated that you had to do ac3 separate from the video then mux and waste all that damn time. This app pwns.
