Alrighty...here's my situation. I ripped the Princess Diaries Fullscreen DVD and encoded with the NTSCfilm KVCD template, and for (approx.) 1hr 48m I get 1.06gb. Here's my rip process:
Smartripper
DVD2AVI (using forced film 23.976)
TMPGEnc 2.50.32.120

And here's a copy of what I was in the info bar of TMPGEnc:
MPEG-1 352x480 23.976fps CQ 70, Layer-2 44100Hz 128kbps

I changed nothing on the KVCD template, so either I missed something, or I screwed up. I'm assuming I should just take the CQ down a few notches (maybe to 60/65) and see what I end up with. Any help/suggestions?

Hi chrs:

Forget about "Princess Diaries" in one CD
It's too bright and Full Screen.

Use the new Beta template at 704x480 and change the CQ to 70 and put it in 2 CD's with near DVD quality.
If you use the standard KVCD template, the one at 352x480, increase the CQ to 85.

There's no way It'll fit in one CD, unless you go for 352x240 and that's crappy quality.

Aaah. I knew the fullscreen aspect of it had something to do with it. I didn't know the KVCD templates were optimized for widescreen I'll try your suggestion and report as to how it went. This is kind of off the topic, but is my process legit? I see others using AviSynth and I have no idea what they're doing with that.
