I've now done my very first kvcd. It can play without problems on the computer using WinDVD. But now when I tried to play the movie on my dvd player I only saw the first picture of the movie in 1 second and then the screen went black and it came up blue lines on the black screen But I heard the sound.

Why is this happening Is it because I live in Europe and the movie is NTSC??? My dvd player support SVCD.

Please give me some help

It could well be that your player or your TV doesn't support NTSC material. Did you use a PAL resolution ( n x 288 or 576 ) and a frame rate of 25fps?

I tired the KVCDx3 (PAL) tample instead of NTSC and it gave me the same result but this time with green lines I've now realized that I cant play KVCDx3 on my dvd player on the tv.

Do you think it will work with the SKVCD PAL 352x576 ? or will it give me the same result And how much worser will the quality be now when I will try SKVCD instead of KVCDx3

And should I use the same script in SKVCD PAL 352x576 as I used in KVCDx3?

LoadPlugin("C:\Documents and Settings\Lars\Skrivbord\Tobias\Program\Blandat\Fit CD\MPEG2DEC.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Documents and Settings\Lars\Skrivbord\Tobias\Program\Blandat\Fit CD\GripFit_preview.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Documents and Settings\Lars\Skrivbord\Tobias\Program\Blandat\Fit CD\LegalClip.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Documents and Settings\Lars\Skrivbord\Tobias\Program\Blandat\Fit CD\Sampler.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Documents and Settings\Lars\Skrivbord\Tobias\Program\Blandat\Fit CD\DustV5.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Documents and Settings\Lars\Skrivbord\Tobias\Program\Blandat\Fit CD\TemporalCleanerOld.dll")

AviSource("C:\Documents and Settings\Lars\Skrivbord\Tobias\Lordoftherings.avi" )

LegalClip()
GripCrop( width=528, height=480, overscan=1 ) <-----(Should I switch this to GripCrop( width=352, height=576, overscan=1 )
GripSize()
SpaceDust()
TemporalCleaner()
GripBorders()
LegalClip()
#Sampler(length=24)
## MPEG size = ((Total frames/MovieTimeInMinutes)/24) * MPEG sample file size ##

The main difference between the resolutions 528(544)x576 and 352x576 is the sharpness IMO. I'm sure you'll get very good quality with the lower resolution, I use it myself quite a lot. The CVD resolution (352x576) might more compatible, I think it's a part of the DVD specs or something like that

I'm not sure about the script as I don't use the GripFit functions myself, but it does look OK to me. I'd go for 2 overscan blocks but that really depends on your TV (how many pixels it will crop off the sides). With 2 overscan blocks the black borders would fill a complete macroblock (each side 16 pixels) which would increase the compressibility of the overscan area quite a lot.

If you want to compare the quality, simply encode a sample strip with both templates and view them on your PC
