It's funny, how the VKCD templates are appearing at other sites, with different names
Check this one out:
http://www.onecs.de/mvcd/
Download it and look at the GOP, etc.

Yes sir -

I noted it several weeks ago on a German DVD board, and I did mentioned the original templates came from here, the author didn't denied or say anything, so I guess I was right.

Not much DaDe . But it would be nice if they mentioned and give some credit as to the original source of their template

For the very very little German that I remember, I guess you said something like:
"Good evening. You are the man Mr. kwag!"
And something about a RCA5240P and templates.
And that's all I can understand!

Greetings Kwag!

My high school german is about 30 years old now. With your references lately to the german forums, thought it may have been a second language for you. Yes, I you pretty much correctly translated. I have been trying to get my RCA to work with your templates. About the only thing I haven't tried is taking the Forced Film output of DVD2AVI and using the 3:2 pulldown in TMPGenc. If I understand this correctly, the pulldown converts the 24 fps to 30fps. My thinking is that maybe that could be a factor in the video skipping I am getting. I did have encouraging results lowering the resolution to 352by240 and upping the min bit rate to 600. May also try upping it again to 700, 800 etc. Was pretty close the last time. Just some minor skipping.

My final plan is to go to Walmart and get the Sony NS315 for $150. I believe it plays the newest KVCDx2. Speaking of DVD players, I have started a list of players that work/don't work with the 2 templates. The information was obtained from reading posts from your site and vcdhelp. It must contain information on about 35 players. Its in Word. Would you like a copy?

Hi MrRobot:

Absolutely!. I was planning to start reading about the DVD models that play/don't play in the threads, and add a web page with the details . So if you have the information, you'll save me a lot of time going through the posts.

Thanks,
kwag

This is exactly the sort of thing I'd like to do to make 24fps work on my Apex 1100W. However, my understanding is that MPEG-1 does not *support* 3:2 pulldown, so that can't be applied here, *even though* you can select it in the TMPGEnc advanced settings. Odd that it's even an option. What would it do for MPEG-1 then??

I, like you, have tried about everything else. Unfortunately 30fps pretty much means 2 CDs for *most* everything, unless maybe at 352x240.

Geoff
