It seems I cannot find the answer to my question with search. Please if
there is an answer for that just point me to it.

I'm encoding "Knight's Tale" from DVD. Original size is 16:9 740x480, 124
min and I would like to fit it on one cd.

There are two kvcd templates: 352x240 and 352x480. Which one is
correct to use and more important why? When I should use 352x240 and
when 352x480?

4:3 -> 352x480 ?
16:9 -> 352x240 ?

Hi JoZ !
There is no absolute answer for your question !!!
It deepends on many things and because of that it's better to try yourself and see which one feets you more

Hi there, bman!

That's the problem. I was trying with both templates for 120min kvcd and
both are looking ok. Is that possible? How come 16:9 (ws) resized to
352x240 and the same movie resized to 352x480 are looking good? Am I
lost somewhere here? There is 240 pixels difference between them right?

JoZ,

Use 352x240 if your DVD player will not play the larger resolution of 352x480.

Also use 352x240 when your movie is really long and doesn't look good as 352x480.

By the way, KVCDx3 is 528x480 and looks really good, but make sure it plays on your DVD player.

Regards, Tenra

Thanks, ARnet_tenRA. I didn't try kvcdx3 yet because on templates page
is written ws- approx. 100 min, fs- approx. 75 min but the movie I'm
making experiments with is 125 min. Now I'm encoding it with kvcdx3
but with cq~55 which seems to be too low. Am I wrong? I was thinking
that 352x240 with cq~70 will be better. How's that?
