Hi Kwag.
I have not posted in a long time since I have been busy trying out the RM9 format and my TV out video card as an alternative to making (s)vcd. I found that for my purposes I could use DVDx and frameserve to the Helix producer v9.01. Using a vbr framerate and bitrate at about 800kbs I can quickly backup my DVD's (which I own) to fit on 1 cd.
The ouput compares favorably with vcd and svcd which I made of the same movies. I understand that I don't have the flexibility to play them on my DVD player but at least my DVD's are backed up.
I have visited here without signing in and regularly direct users on other forums to this site whenever a question is raised about achieving quality encodes in Mpeg1 or mpeg2.
I logged in when I saw this post because this user's statements are absolute hogwash. I see similar problems on a number of other forums where aggressive users wonder why someone won't answer their questions. If a user has been insulting and impolite when others ask questions then how can he/she expect that someone else will be ready to help them.
When I was making many (x)(s)vcd your templates helped me produce the best mpeg videos that I had ever made. The only reason that I could not make 1 cd (2 hour) videos is because my standalone DVD players would not accept 23.96 framerate (only 29.97) no matter what trick that I tried.
I read that you have continued to modify the templates and I plan to run a few tests in the near future (just to keep my skills up).
I just wanted to thank you for the great job you are doing, the excellent tips and tricks I learned on this site and for the fantastic templates which saved me a lot of trial and error when I first started.
keep up the good work!
